X164 06-09 Battery Changing
Do I need to backup all the security codes or anything before changing the battery?
Any precautions or backing up of any data before changing the battery.
I tried searching this up on google, however I couldn't find an answer.
Thanks a lot.

On my 2007 GL450, after replacing the battery, it was also necessary to:
-Set the clock.
-Sync the door windows.
-Sync the power tilt/sliding sunroof.
-Sync the exterior rear view mirrors.
( May be some info in your owners' manual ).

Reddog is right about what needs to be reset. No, you don't need to do anything ahead of time to save things.. everything will still be there once you replace the battery.
Have a box cutter ready to cut the carpet along the perforation if this is the first time the battery is being changed on this vehicle.
Follow the owners manual instructions on changing the battery. It involves moving the seat forward and backwards. You need to do it in the right order or you'll find that you have the battery disconnected then can't get it out because there is no power to the seat.
It's not a hard job, but follow the instructions.
Make sure you put back the plastic heater vent properly when you're done. There are some easily breakable tabs so study it carefully and install it properly so it isn't loose. It is for footwell heat for rear passengers so you want it attached properly and not loose.
I used a Walmart battery (Everstart Max I think?) and it has been perfectly fine for 2 years. Yes I know it's not an AGM but I will wait another year or two and replace it again. Sure it won't last 7 years like the original did but I'm going to get 4 years out of it for $90 which is a bargain.
