2012 GL-350 factory hitch reinforcemebnt

hi there yawl!!!

i'm a newbie, but have been following posts on towing etc., but can't seem to find what i am looking for....like the U2 song.

anyway, just got my 2012 gl-350 with the factory hitch and will be towing my 2012 25' Airstream Flying Cloud with her.

i.ve seen some photos on Airstream forum of how a GL-320's hitch was reinforced, but haven't seen anything regarding the 2012 GL-350. I did speak with Andy at Can-Am, and he doesn't have any either.

So, if anyone does have some shots of how your GL-350's factory installed hitch was reinforced, i'd appreciated your sending them to me.

Or, if you can clearly describe how you did yours, that'd be great too!

if i didn't live in NM and have a trip coming up soon I'd go visit Andy, but no can do right now...so any help would be appreciated.

Only slightly relevant, but......

I'll ask a tandem question. On an 08 with no hitch, would the new factory/accessory kit be the way to go, is it upgraded to a a newer design, or no? Would like to know the best option for my vehicle, and cost

The did! No additional reinforcement is necessary to tow the rated load at the rated speed with the rated tongue weight. That is what it is qualified to do.

Airstream tongue is around 800.... 350's fac hitch is rated at 600.... Hence need for reinforcement

Then you are towing over the limit. There is no approved modification for that.

Except that TW is not as critical running a WDH. (Still technically over the limit, but you should be fine._

While on the subject of tow hitches, what all does the installation of a tow hitch to a 2008 ML that hasn't been fitted with one before, entail? I've looked at some tow hitches for sale on the internet and from the pictures it would seem that the vehicle is probably already factory prepared so that the tow hitch merely bolts on. Is that a correct assessment?

Also, if the tow hitch simply bolts on, is there also a simple connection for the wiring?

Confirmation will be much appreciated.
