2010 GL450 exterior door handle repair. Need help
I'm trying to change a broken rear door handle. After removing the door panal I came across a black aluminum cover blocking the interior of the door. After I removed the T30 screws holding it in place I saw the window tracks where attatched to it with 3 rivits. Do these rivits need to be drilled out or is there a simpler way of doing this job.

have to pop the rivets and install new ones

Any good news to share regarding the door handle replacement? It seems that our 2010 GL550 is experiencing the same problem (rear passenger handle) and I'm curious to know how your replacement went.

I'm trying to find rivits large enough to replace the old ones. My dealership ordered the wrong ones and I'm still waiting for the parts. I will definitely give you an update on how it went as soon as I can. I'm tired of my kids fighting over the one good door.

Ok. Finally done. After I drilled out the two rivits from the aluminum protective plate. I found that the actuator that attatches to the handle was also broken. $650.00 part. So it took a lot longer than I expected to fix. By doing it myself I only saved $98.00 in labor. So if your door handle happens to break off. Save yourself the time and energy and just send it out to get fixed.
