Motor making noise but steering wheel wont go up or down. It moves forward and backward. I'm assuming some gear is stripped or broken? Anybody have a suggestion or part numbers? Thanks.

I had this problem and took it in for service thinking the same thing as you. The dealer just reset it with their diagnostic tool and all is good again. Hope it is the same issue for you. You can buy aftermarket STAR diagnostic for a few hundred bucks on eBay and do it yourself if you are out of warranty.

I recently got a STAR diagnostic tool. Never used it yet. I guess I'll have to try it.

I read those threads too and was thanking the stars for extended warranty before taking it in.

Can you hear the motor run with the broken plastic pieces? If not, then a reset might just work. It takes a lot to break that plastic piece and you probably should have heard it break if that is the case.

I can definitely hear something, assuming its the motor. My wife was driving the vehicle when it happened (the usual) and asking her details doesn't do much.

I don't know exactly what my issue is yet. But I asked couple of places already if I can get steering coupling and was told that I need to buy entire assembly for $2k... right.. not happening.
