2008 GL320 COMMAND Replacement

2008 GL 320 Factory Command, Fiber Optic Harmon Kardon with Sirius, 30 pin ipod.

Nagiation DVD drive dead not to mention tired of now being able to stream iphone 6 plus music to COMMAND.

What replacement options do I have. Can I replace COMMAND with later year COMMAND - have option to unlocked (can be programmed to my VIN) GL320 Command - would this plug and play with my existing configuration.

If not, is there an audio interface module that will allow me to keep the Harmon Kardon amp and speakers and then go to after market.

Also, any new on Apple Car Play for Mercedes? Would love to go that route if possible.

Thank you in advance

Don't even think about replacing the factory COMAND - It was too klutzy in 2005 when it was designed.
Check with electronic stores like CarToys to see what they offer.
I just spotted a new offering from Magellan that has bluetooth, the usual Nav stuff plus optional back up camera! Don't have any idea if it will do the audio things you want it to though

Were you able to find any viable solution to replace COMMAND?
Thanks!

A double din head unit drops in nicely with an installation kit. You can use a Pioneer/Sony/etc. unit or and Android based unit. Both have Android Auto/Carplay which allows the use of Waze/Google Maps, which are far superior to the stock Navigation unit. The stock backup camera can still be used and will look much better on a higher resolution screen.
