Air Bag Installation Question

Hello everyone. I read and researched a bunch on this site and ended up ordering from Arnot a new front air bag for my GL450.
I have the strut and old bag assembly off and I'm trying to remove the old bag. The 17mm bolt holding on the bag just spins. There is a hex key in the middle of the shaft and I have tried using a hex key and socket but I'm afraid I'll strip the hex key. Again, the bolt just spins and there is nothing I can think of.

Am I removing this the correct way? Help is appreciated.

Arnott Video

I think Arnott has a video on youtube that shows the installation procedure. Good luck, William

You may want to contact Arnott's tech support. I've never used them, but I have heard that they are very good.

I found those videos, thanks for posting. I think the shaft in the strut/shock is bad, it just spins so the nut won't come off. I'll see if Arnot will take back the air bag and trade me for the entire assembly they sell.
Thanks,
Sean

That's probably your best bet...it will be a lot easier to just replace the whole assembly anyway. Plus if you don't have the ADS option the whole assembly is only about $50 more than just the air spring.

Good luck!
