weird shifting
09 gl320 when going uphill the transmission shifts sooner than normal and when going down a hill it holds the gears longer
seems to me that should be the opposite, holding gears longer going uphill for climbing power and upshifting soon going downhill
i owned a subaru and the angle sensor (not sure of correct terminology) was installed backwards causing shifting and handling problems, they had a recall
does anyone know where the inclinometer or whatever its called is installed in our x164 mercedes is?
i wonder if someone messed with it and installed it backward
i tried reseting adaptions with star tool, fluid and filter change also but still not happy with the inconsistent shifting behavior

The turbo diesel has a lot of torque. Tcu shifting patterns use that to maximize fuel economy. What is considered lugging a gasoline engine is considered mo for a Diesel engine. Thus going uphill at 1200-1500 rpms is common.
On the downhill part- tranny is downshifted automatically to maintain better control of vehicle. This is also normal. Especially if you are touching the brake pedal while going downhill.
