My GL is just being a dick

It wasn't satisfied with me repairing the SRS problem. Now the Airmatic is acting up, again.

Over the winter it had issues raising the front, then the back then it went to normal again. It didn't do it again for several months now.

Today the Airmatic claimed "malfunction" and won't raise the front. I know all bags are good and I can feel the bags, there is pressure just not enough to raise the heavy ***** to road setting.

I had the fender liner off and had the intake pipe loose so I could feel the pull of the compressor but interestingly enough I was able to feel air blowing out of the pipe when the compressor was running instead of sucking like I thought it should. I even blew some dirt around the floor to prove to myself I wasn't a whacko. I did also take the exhaust pressure side off and it blows but I can stop it from exhausting with heavy thumb pressure.

Looks like I need a new pump. Yay go me. Rock Auto has Dorman brand pumps for $212. Should I chance the Dorman brand to save $150-200 bucks?

PS, I love my GL even when it's a ******.

The pumps do go bad after a while. I would go with the MB pump. I tried an aftermarket pump and it just did not work.

What brand pump did you try and what didn't work? Was it a replacement part or an adapted rig?

It was a new OE pump. Looked exactly like the MB pump in every way shape and form but it just didn't work. It even came with a new relay. Maybe I got a defective one but it cost me a bunch more time and money than if I had just let the dealership install.

You are probably good with the Arnott unit.

Rebuild Master Tech offers one also and cheaper than Arnott with a warranty but their warranty hinges on you having replaced your bags lately. Mine have all been done in the last 12 months.
