Should I be concerned about this GL550

Just pulled the Carfax Maintenance Report on a used 2012 that I'm considering and it seems pretty extensive? Not sure if it's a good sign or a bad sign that the report is VERY long. Thoughts?

Does that look like the car was well maintained or just taken in repeatedly to be looked at? Thanks for your thoughts!!

Nothing seems major on the 550, sounds like niggles and some various items otherwise that aren't serious

You can take the vin to Benz and get a more detailed report of all service and why customer brought the car in each time

Be advised that the repairs listed would easily be over $3,000 if not under warranty. The air suspension repair/replacement alone is over $2,000.

Looks like a normal GL550 record if you ask me, lol.

I should also mention, we love our 2010 GL550 and plan on keeping it for another 2-3 years...without any warranty.

Just know that it is an EXPENSIVE vehicle to own/operate. Take special note of the entries "replace tire(s)". If it has the 21" rims, the tires are going to set you back more than $300 each.

The air suspension seems to also be a normal/limited life item. Most people say they last ~60k/mi. We got 62k/mi before ours need two new front units.

It looks benign to me. A responsible owner frequently has their car maintained, so it could actually be a good sign.

You can get the tires much cheaper than $300 each. Check out Onlinetires.com.

Thanks for the input on the 550.
After researching a few days I decided that realistically, it just wouldn't be the right fit. Fuel efficiency is my top priority so it came down to a function over form since the 550 is hands down, the best in the GL class when it comes to form.

Now researching the 2013 GL350 v. the older gen 2012 GL250.
Spoke with a friend who was a tech for 10 years at MB and was told of the common problems with the Turbo Oil cooler leaking on the diesels but not sure if that was fixed in 2013 or is still ongoing?

Looks like the previous owner took good care of maintenance and had some warranty work done.

It also looks like the previous owner knew they were going to get rid of the vehicle and DID NOT perform the 40k service, nor the transmission flush.

Looking at a diesel for fuel efficiency rather than the cost to own is very short sided. The amount you save on fuel may be totally negated and then some by the higher cost to maintain with frequent fuel filter changes as well as the turbo oil cooler seals. Even when the seals are replaced, they are still having repeated failure issues. There are also some other failure points. Do a quick search on the forum.

I would not own the 350/320 unless I towed. Since I do not tow, it does not make sense for me. My 450 has been very reliable and very cheap to maintain.
