GPS DVD update

I just bought my 2009 GL 320 diesel and the previous owner gave me 2011/ 2 DVD, in a package, looked original. I wanted to update Canada, she told me that they did not have plans to go up there and they did not do Canada for that reason since it takes hours to do. When i tried to use those DVDs they are unreadable, cleaned them up,with no avail. any idea on how to get them to work? the dealer charge $250.. but i will wait till the fall for the new updated version.

Just get the DVDs from the dealer. Everything else is hit and miss. It's about an 18 month interval between updates.

2015 update

A couple months ago I did a 2015 map update. As far as I know there is no choice of which country to update. When you insert the DVD in slot 1, the system will give you a disc error message but at the same time it will reboot and start the installation process. The process is written on the DVD case.
I thought I could install it on the parking lot, but your car will run low on battery within 30 minutes and you will have to drive the car around or put it on a charger. I'm kind of disappointed because a lot of the latest roads are not showing up. Here in BC they did a major new highway 17 and is not showing on the map.

I called the dealership and they informed me that the new update will be in in the fall. I decided to wait since the 2015 is not comprehensive.
