2010GL550

I could use a little help here. My wife complained that on rare occasions, her 2010 GL550 will sometimes "surge"/accelerate slightly while braking. It only does it at very low speeds (like coming up to a stop sign, etc.) and does not overwhelm the brakes, but it's still make her feel a little uneasy.


I was driving it yesterday and for the first time noticed it myself. Just once over the course of an hour or so drive. I was slowing for a red light and was probably going less than 10mph. A quick little blip of the tach and she stated, "there it is, did you feel that?"


Any ideas? Otherwise the vehicle functions perfectly.

That type of issue usually indicates there are issues with the throttle body!!

yes, throttle body needs to be cleaned and relearned via das. also i would do a ecu/tcu reset while at it

it could be other more expensive things, but small steps first

Could be yer big foot is stepping on the accellerator at the same time.

It comes from the gearbox downshifting. No issues at all it is the case.

I test drove an 11 GL550 today and it had the exact same issue. At very low speeds in forward or reverse it would surge. Also it seemed to have a slightly uneven idle. It almost feels like a torque converter slipping. Needless to say I think I'll pass on this one.
