a2j,
If you dont mind sharing, where did you order the compressor from? I checked with www.oediscountparts.com and they told me they would ship out a reman and requires the core back. Thanks

eBay. There are sellers direct from Germany last time I checked a few months ago.

There was something inside of the pump when I shook it so I decided to open it up. Some bearings fell out of there and piston had a play of about 1 mm.
It would be nice to know if we can get parts to rebuild these.
Can you clarify "left headlight?" I hear the pump on the front passenger side.

Pump is front pass side behind the wheel liner at 3 o'clock as you are facing the wheel

Yep. I got mine on ebay. I don't think it has to be from Germany (mine was), as long as it's AMK (oem).

Sorry, alx is right. I should have said passenger side.

Thanks!

I ordered from Arnott and paid extra for fast and reliable service. Appears to have plenty of options on eBay new and rebuilt. eBay also offers new Arnott at $100+ cheaper than price on Arnott's website. This is all found after I ordered from Arnott.

I have a leak in the reservoir on the pump and discovered the leak early. Wonder if I can find the housing to rebuild it myself to keep as a backup. The eBay rebuild kits for sale seems to be parts for the piston and not the plastic air reservoir housing.

I wanted to do the same, but I can't find any rebuild kits for the AMK compressor.

the crack in the reservoir is common. I have tried (out of curiosity) to epoxy a couple and they all leaked shortly after. the plastic is just one of those that does not like epoxy, but i am no chemical engineer so ymmv.

Plastic and rubber molecular compounds breaks down and crack due to age and fatigue from pressure exerted. I have not taken apart the plastic air compressor reservoir yet but I predict that it is probably too thin...

I spent about 1.5 hours installing a new air compressor today. Few tips learned when installing that wasted about 45 minutes. The one bolt closest to the radiator is a pain and I ended up bolting it by feel sitting instead of on a creeper.

Get the two bolts closest to the wheel bolted up first without the spring and washer and align the one bolt closest to the radiator done first. After the hardest one is done, then the other two is easy..
