Brake light indicator on 2012 GL450?
I have a 2012 GL450 that just came off warranty and I'm and planning to buy a replacement vehicle in the next month or so. When I had the GL in for service about a month ago, my service advisor told me the brake pads are "really worn" and need to be replaced. At the time I was in negotiations at the dealer to buy a replacement GL so I declined to replace the brake pads figuring I'd never get that full cost back in trade in value. Since that time, the dealer and I were not able to agree upon a price and my wife has decided she may want "something different". So we're now looking at Escalades.
So with that long setup, I'm don't want to feel pressured to rush out and buy an Escalade, but I'm concerned about the safety factor of the brakes in our GL. Since I do plan to trade the vehicle in, I don't want to replace brake pads if I can avoid it. No brake light indicator has come on, so I assume I'm still good from a safety standpoint, but wanted to check the opinion the board, since my wife drives this vehicle and uses it to shuttle our kids around (mostly around town driving). When the brakes are truly worn to the point where they need to be replaced from a safety standpoint will a brake light indicator come on? Thoughts?
Thanks
