Intermittent Airmatic warning with up arrow

I have a 2008 GL550 (154k) with ADS. I have rear shocks and air bags changed couple of weeks ago by an indy. I am getting intermittent airmatic warning with up arrow since last week. When the warning is displayed it is stuck in sports mode and ADS button is disabled.

I tried to raise the car and it did raise (It was done today when there was no warning). When parked on uneven surface one rear side can be low depending on tilt. But when parked on even surface all 4 corners seem even.

Can it be related to changing the rear suspension? What is the best way to properly diagnose it? Dealer?

this airmatic warning is very generic in nature. you need the car read with star/ das to obtain more detail.

my take from afar is that if you havent done the compressor in the last 75-100k miles - it is probably due.

Most likely your compressor needs to be replaced. It needs to maintain a certain pressure to operate properly. It sounds like yours is getting weak which is a sign that it is about to go.

I would guess the air compressor as well especially if you just replaced air bags. The air compressor probably overheated and burnt itself out.

Airmatic malfunction came back after a month. Car was stuck in sport mode. It did raise and lower without problem. The warning showed after starting the car. I drove few miles and restarted the car and there is no message.

In the last month I have driven in sport, comfort and normal mode without any issue.

I know my car battery is weak. Can it cause it?

How much is dealer cost for airmatic diagnostic?

I had the Airmatic Alarm twice in a day last month. I normally drive in Auto mode for the Airmatic control.

After picking up the car after servicing, about 20 min, the Airmatic alarm came on and the car switch to sport mode. Can't change it. Turn off the engine and restart. Not alarm and revert back to Auto mode. All good, but Airmatic Alarm come out again around 20 minute later.

I turn off the engine, and select Sports mode and drove it for 1hour to reach home. At home, can still select to Auto and Sports mode w/o any issue.

Next day, I went to the Merc Service Ctr. During the drive, always on Comfort mode and no issue.

Tech did a brief diagnostic test. In both cases, there was an undervoltage across all components, but seems the airmatic "pick it up". Can't really be sure w/o a full (lengthy) test. Just an anormally in the electrical system, as the tech put it. Could be anything.

It's been more than 3 weeks, no further alarm.

The compressor relay is located in the front fuse box

Took it to dealer today. Battery tested ok.

Talked to SA about airmatic malfunction and he suggested to come back when I get the message otherwise it will be waste of money.

Both time I received the message there were 6 persons in the car and I started the car before seating everyone.

I am going on a 10 hours road trip next week and wanted to fix it before going. But can't fix without knowing the problem.

Front struts were replaced with Arnotts in 2014.
Rear shocks (and airbags) were replaced with Miesselers about a month ago.
