2015 GL 350 Bluetec
New GL Owner!

Just wanted to introduce myself and my new GL (it's actually for my wife, but I love driving it as well ). We were planning to get an X5, but after driving it I wasn't impressed. So we thought we would check out the GL. After the test drive I was sold! It was so smooth and the interior was amazing! We also loved the usable 3rd row seating and the overall size (not too big and not too small).

Here are a few quick pics:

And here is a quick pic of my ride (2013 GTS):

Thanks. I bought both cars off the lot (so I didn't get to spec it exactly the way I wanted). Here are the options on the GL:

And the GTS:

I actually got a better deal on the 2013 GTS (10% off) since I bought it right when the 2014s came out. On the 2015 GL I only got 6% off.

It was surprising that Mercedes can sell a 70k+ car with MB Tex and Halogen lights. I am planning to upgrade the lights to Philips Diamond Vision 5000k. I don't mind the MB Tex as much.

Love the GL350's low end torque. We are on our 3rd GL. Congrats!

My gripe exactly! I swapped out the bulbs with PIAA Xtreme White Plus (H7). It's brighter than the stock halogen IMHO. In this day and age, bi-xenon should be standard and LEDs optional. I'm with you on the MB Tex; we actually prefer it, especially since we have kids.

I had to pass so many GL 350s and 450s because it didnt' have the xenon lights. It is just unbelievable to me at the time. I eneded up with the 550 because I couldn't get one with the right color with the xenon lights. Then, my friend bought the one that I loved without xenon lights GL450, and I parked it side by side, and realized it doesn't look that bad after all.

Make a picture at night time and your opinion will change

If the bulb swap as mentioned above works, I assume it will enhance the looks and make the lights brighter and whiter.

my friends GL also has the glowing Benz emblem at night.

I guess I gotta find the time and park it side by side and see what it looks like at night sometime.

I have the xenon lights and the lit star. The lit star looks OK, but I wouldn't go without xenon lights. I don't like the High beam assist or auto high beam because it doesn't work at low speed. I would like to have the option of turning it off while still being in auto light mode.

Just did the bulb swap (using the Diamond Vision 5000k) and I am pretty impressed with the result! The yellow is gone and now it's more white (with a hint of blue).

Here is a quick pic of the before and after:

You can turn it off by pulling the left stick to the normal position?

Welcome to the GL..... I'm on my 3rd, and nothing that I have had before does it all so well as this vehicle ....perfect? Nope....none are...but this is the right combination of tech, comfort, space and "mountain goat ability" ( which I must have ) Plus..... 3 GLS and only minor issues plus a few "factory service suggested fixes" dealt with.
