What I did is I made this design with a 3/16" lip over frosted acrylic 1/8" thick laser cut with 4 SMD 1.5 W leds. flushmounted into the acrylic (Perfect tight fit) I had these leds made for me specifically to make light up emblems. The leds are placed in the center and the 3 pointed star areas. The OEM emblem is placed on top of the acrylic with 3M black double stick tape for sure grip and the acrylic is also double stick taped. The LEDs are sealed with silicone to ensure reliability from moisture. The emblem is curved so it must be shaped. I have the template in my program file. If anyone wanted one made and feel it's too much to attempt, you can send the center to me and I can have it ready to go. OR I can sell you the raw parts and you can install it yourself. I would of course show you how to do it. You will need a heatsource or heatgun to shape the acrylic to the shape of the curved emblem. You will need to drill 4 holes to run the wires to the back of the grill and run to the parking light wire from the plug that goes to the back of the headlamp. Well worth the effort.

I can supply the leds and the precut acrylic for $50. You just have to do the labor part which is heating the emblem to shape which is not hard to do and supply your own silicone/ double stick tape. I heat the acrylic on top of the black base that twist and turn off the grill and when the acrylic is soft enough to take shape, put the chrome emblem on top of it and press down. Use clamps or a sand bag on top until it gets cold enough to let go and then the shape is ready to go and then you mount the leds into the prefit cut outs, solder wires to the lead to lengthen to reach behind the grill and then wire to the headlamp plug (parking light wire)

OK I can see there might be confusion, I don't know how the two pics got together as I had posted the two pics separately on two model car subjects. The top one is from a CLA and the lower one is the GL. On another GL vehicle I had made the parking light do two functions, one as parking and also flash as a turn signal. Hope that clears up the confusion.

Don't install this on cars with distronic.... Might be a problem which is why it isn't available as a option on those equipped cars.

Wouldn't work anyway because the emblems are different and wouldn't glow the same as the distronic use a full covered shield and not open like the standard emblem. I think most if not all should already know this by now.

Interested in the raw material. Could you text me and we can talk about it. Thanks, Brian

Can this be made to fit a 2015 Sprinter Van? The emblem is a larger size than the cars.
I have not been able to find a kit for the Sprinter.
Thanks Spoke

Unfortunately I'm not making the star emblems anymore as they are very time consuming to make the star mold. Things got very busy for me on many other projects. When I find time I'll be posting a nice custom mod done on the factory S550 221 fog light converting the internals to led with a DRL ring. Factory fit and look..
