Facelifted GL Date

2017 Models will be released in Feb 2016. They will be GL350/450/550/63 so no GLS moniker on facelifted cars.

I looked at schedule again and see they are still calling the "GLE" "ML" so maybe the GL will become GLS.

2014 GL350
Just saw the mbusa website and all of the SUVs, except the GL, have the new moniker.

I just don't understand why you guys care so much about name change. Even if they call it XXX550 - will you not buy it ? It's still a fine car, does not matter how they call it...

Ok. I was just at the MBUSA, and I don't see it at all what you guys are talking about. Was it a mistake they put it up or what?

anyone got a link to it?

This entire thread is confusing and frankly useless. There is no link because the 2017 GLS hasn't officially been announced. The original poster stated that the 2017 model would still be badged as a GL and not a GLS. That is highly improbable.

Its more probable that MB will announce the refreshed GLS later this year or early next year but you can bet on it being badged as a GLS. Some reports predict it will be announced at the Frankfurt Auto Show next month but even if it isn't, look for a refreshed 2017 GLS sometime next year.

A gaggle of MB's
The 2017 GLS will start US production June 2016 - for release mid-August 2016.

Dealer order guides for the 2017 GLS will be released to dealers 1st/2nd week March 2016.

In the same "theme" as the 2016 GLE shipped this month - yes - 2017 GLS will be "facelift" mid-generation update.

The rest of the chatter goes around-n-around..

Thanks for confirming the release schedule.

A nearby MB dealer has the new GLE 450 AMG Coupe and several GLE's. The refreshed front end and updated dash look good in the flesh.

My information is accurate on release date. The wholesale release is Feb 2016 not mid-August. The dealer guide says it is still a GL but as I mentioned also shows ML which we know is now GLE. Therefore unclear if GL will be rebadged GLS but agree it makes sense if it will be.

Didn't the other source quote the release date as 1st or 2nd week of March? So close that it seems to agree. The August date was when actual cars would reach customers I think, which is always quite some time after the release.
