Replacing rear step chrome plate on bumper

Folks -

Anyone replace theirs? Does it require removal of the bumper?

Any help is appreciated. I bought a 2014 CPO, has some scratches on the chrome which are bugging me....

Figured i'd check. Searched to no avail!

Thanks,

Aceman

I wpould recommend you source the part 1st - and with thatpart in hand you can verify it's "stick on".

I would not pull the old one without having "new" in hand - once confirmed adhesive - best procedure is to use a heat gun low-setting to soften the old one.

Keep the beat !

Thanks Fab,

I sourced it on getmercedesparts dot com, Looks like there are no fasteners but figured i'd check first...will call the dealer tomorrow to confirm and get her ordered up.

Heat and fishing line usually do the trick if its the 3m style tape.

Please understand adhesive "tape" has come along a bit over the past few years - so low heat recommended to toast the plate up a bit..

Ecs tuning has the part as well. I think its a wise "upgrade". I got a 13' cpo 450 in June and will be doing the same.

Is it just heat required to remove the existing piece?

Thanks,

Dr Pesq -

After looking at the parts diagram on a couple websites - there are clips that i'm seeing. I don't think its as easy as i fabrisd stated. If you google the p/n, you'll see what i'm talking about...

Thanks for the heads up. I bet a body shop would put it on for a small charge.
