Check engine light
Just got my 2013 CPO GL450, and after a week the check engine light has come on. I'm suspicous because I first filled up on Sun and on Tue the light come on. No running issues, can this be reset by me or should I take to the dealer? I bought from Florida MB dealer but I live in Baton Rouge.

Definitely take it to the dealer. Mine came on a couple weeks ago and has been at the dealer since then. My dealer said the cause was "low compression" due to a bad cylinder head. They are waiting for the part to be delivered from Germany.

Warranty on the heads? That's a scary thought. Actually it only has 26k and is under the original warranty. I certainly hope it's something simple and not a big issue. Is a loaner car a normal part of the deal with MB or is it dealer specific, what's your typical experience?

Regarding free loaner car, in my experience, you get one from your original sales dealership only. Getting service at another MB location does not allow the gratis loaner car.

Had to make 2 visits to the dealership for the CEL. They fixed it on the second go; it was a $65 part that took them a week to get. As for the loaner, every MB dealership I've visited in my lifetime provided one free of charge but then there are several MB dealerships where I live. Supply and demand.....

OK, went to the dealer and they didn't have a loaner but would normally. Since they were busy and the light wasn't blinking the service manager set up an appt for first loaner available. He also suggested that if it was my first fill up that maybe it was the gas cap. He said if it was, the light would go off in the next day or so. Sure enough, it did. Hasn't been back.
I'll make sure to secure the cap well from now on. As I recall, the first Land Rover I had did the same thing, a little quirky.
