Some miles later and I am seeing the stocks are due for a replace in about 9-10k.
What alternatives for stock rims are available that you guys may have used or researched?

I went through the stock tires on my 2015 GL63 in 11,000 miles. All 4 were worn to the wear bars evenly. I went back with the same tires (ContiSportContact 295/40R21).

While it was in for the tires, I had the 360 camera reprogrammed (LI54.65-P-059114) and it made a huge improvement in the night time image.

I put on a fair number of miles, 30K on my 14.

I'm getting about 8K per set of Sport Contacts, same on the Cross Contacts I use in the winter. It's a big car with lots of power.

There aren't a lot of choices in this size.

Oh, and if you pick up one of these off the highway and it gets stuck in your tire, yup, buried in with only the head of the spike showing, be prepared to write a check for a tire.

I myself just had a nail in one the passenger rear tire. I was under the impression that you shouldn't plug a performance tire? They were in need of replacement anyways, I ended up going with the Pirelle P-Zero. So far I'm very pleased with the this set over the others I've tried so far

It's very difficult to plug a high performance low profile tire. Usually when they go flat the sidewall gets damaged. Even if they can plug it the tire is not one you would want to take a chance on with spirited driving.

If you are traveling at high speeds or take interstates/highways, it's best to change the tires rather than plug them.
