Snows for GL63

Snows for GL63
I'm about to pull the trigger on an 2015 and want some help choosing wheels (size) and tires for the winter.
I've Nokian tires on my LR4 and love them and would like some thoughts and recommendations for the Gl63. I know Cyclrider has Pirelli Scorpions on 21" on his truck and wondered if others had come up with options.
My current thought is that a set of aftermarket wheels (20") equipped with snows would be good as a second set...?
These seem the choices:
1. Keep existing 21" rims and swap just tires in the winter
- Q. Are the Pirelli Scorpions the only 21" snows that will fit the stock rims?
2. Swap to 20" rims and equip with snow tires.
- Q. What rims would be good second set?
- Q. What snows are available for the GL in the 20" size.
If any of you have made choices or have recommendations it would be much appreciated

I went with 20" wheels from MB and Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow last year..I'd not go with this tire again..not a great perfomer.. but a Nokian Hakkapalitta 8 maybe studded or Blizzack

20 inch opens up other possibilities for sure...
The Dunlop Winter Sport 3D is a tire that I had used on my GL550..... Car was unstoppable. I could barely tell the difference between the 20 inch Dunlops and the 21 OEM Continentals in the dry....
But... That tire is not XL rated... Nor are many other ones....

Highly recommanded here in Switzerland where it snows a lot.

Cymro99:
I purchased a second set of 21 inch after market wheels and used the Pirelli Scorpion winter tires last winter (same size as the summer tires). I just didn't think I would like the look of the GL63 on 20s so was wiling to give up a bit of control for looks. The 21s were fine last winter, which was our worst in terms of snow and cold in Chicagoland in forever. Certainly the 20s with narrower tires would be better if you live in the mountains.
I appreciate that Nanook living way up in Canada probably made a good choice on the 20s. I think those look really good on the ML.
Kind regards

Snow Tires
I ordered Pirelli Scorpion Winter in 21 inch.
These Pirellis are the only choice at tirerack.
They did have Pirelli Winter Carving as a second choice a month or so ago.
Last winter I ran with the Scorpion Winters on my Audi SQ5 and they performed extremely well. On my first Audi Q7 I had Pirelli Ice and Snow tires. Those perfomed poorly. My last Q7 had Blizzacks and they were excellent. I was very surprised the Scorpion Winters were so strong. There was no hesitation on my part to get Scorpion Winters for my GL63. I would not go near the Pirelli Ice and Snow's. I did see on line that there are Hakapillito 7 in 295-40-21. I did not try to see if anyone had them in stock.
