2015 GL63 needs new shoes
Hey guys,
I bought my '15 GL63 as a CPO with 4K miles on it. I've now just had my first A service at 9.5k miles and the dealership noted that my tires ContiSport Contact 5 - 295/40 ZR 21 Y need to be replaced. I never focused on the tires at purchase but I'm assuming these were the OEM rubber and I'm surprised to only get 1year and only 10k miles on these. Nothing but highway miles. As this is my new toy, sure I've "gotten on it" a bit in the 6mos I've had her but no burn outs, or obvious tire abuse.
What are your experiences?
Those that have put new rubber on, did you stick with the Conti's or did you go Pirelli PZ or something else. Please let me know as I need to figure this out in the next few weeks.

contis are great for grip but very soft rubber and do not last
pirellis are better-- i would actually recc the all seasons (regardless of where you are located) since this is a big truck and sport tires are not the best idea..
i had the conti sports on my GL63 too- didnt like em, but then again I used all seasons most of when i had it..
i wish michelin made rubber for these rims but they dont..
good luck!

I have some miles on my 14 and yes, the vehicle is tough on tires. 10-15K is about right for Continentals. I've had the Sports, Cross and Extremes, with the current Extremes showing the most promise for a longer life.
Watch wear, my experience has been that the rears wear quite a bit faster than the fronts so be vigilant on rotations.
They are an oddball size, not a lot of choices.
