Gla mb roof rack wind noise

Anybody else having problems with the mb roof rack wind noise ? As soon as i take my gla onto the highway with the rack on its makes enough noise that i have to turn on radio to drown out the wind noise. People on the phone with me can hear it when i'm driving. It already sucks that you can't open the sunroof with the rack on, this noise just makes it a horrible product !

Are there any other alternatives out there yet ?

I have the MB roof rack, and have zero wind noise. Take it to a european indy shop and have them examine the fitment and adjust properly.

All roof racks will 'some' noise. Here is a solution some people use, and they can usually be made to fit about any application
Amazon.com: Thule 870XT Thule Roof Rack Fairing (32-Inches): Sports & Outdoors Amazon.com: Thule 870XT Thule Roof Rack Fairing (32-Inches): Sports & Outdoors

Another solution from another forum:
"Take a thin utility cord/rope. Tie it to one end of the front crossbar and wrap it repeatedly around the crossbar to the other end of the front crossbar (spaced about an inch or so per loop) where you tie it tight. Can disrupt the airflow enough to break the noise - basically got rid of all of the noise from my rack. I used a 10 foot cord which cost $1.60. Doesn't look as cool as a fairing (esp. if you're stuck with the purple cord which was all they had when I bought it), but much cheaper and no one will steal it from your car. And you don't have to move the bars so that you can't use them."

I just had the cross-bars put on my GLS (in anticipation of the ski rack) and the freeway noise is horrific!

I can't believe the product is this poorly designed - never had any noise issues on my old 1997 Explorer which retailed about 50% less.

Will see how this goes once the actual ski rack attachment arrives (BMW shipped the wrong part - ) but the noise is not tolerable long-term.

Can you reply to my private message about your MB dealer?

I am about to buy the similar car in North CA. Thank you.
