1st Full track day with my GLA45

Hey guys

Just went out to a track day yesterday with my GLA. I didn't know what to expect as my last car was a C63 tuned and on KW V3's.
My GLA only has Weistec Down Pipe.
First thing to note no overheating or limp mode even in MANUAL mode. We drove in 20 minute sessions full out on the 2.4 km circuit. Average speed was 98 kms with top sped of 166 kms. Best lap time 1:23 Same track in my C63 my best lap time was 1:22 with a 188 top speed. So you can see just how much better this chassis is. I can get the power on so early in the corners and the transmission is amazing. The GLA understeers pretty bad and shredded it's front tires. Also body roll was more than expected, my plastic fenders are now shaved for a custom fit thanks to body roll. (I do have 20mm spacers) Now all we ned is KW to make suspension for this thing and we will have a great car.

Must have been great on the track! Which mode did You use for the track? M/S , Sport mode/OFF on ESP? Can't help wondering how much faster it would be on track with a simple ECu tuning/tuning box!

I used Sport for traction and Manual for transmission.

In my C63 I had to use sport traction and sport transmission or it would overheat and go into limp mode.

Hi , nice to see you pushing hard on that AMG yesterday. I was the one with the A3 3.2 . Did best time 1:26 according to AIM solo. I will try to bring my CLK out next time. BTW really like your exhaust sound especially when you shift.

Couple of pictures of your car, hope you don't mind me taking it.

Always great to see an AMG owner out on the track!

KW just sent me their latest application guide and we have part numbers for KW coilovers for the GLA: Variant 1 and Variant 3 for the GLA 250 and Variant 3 for the GLA45.

Send me an email (nmahzari@hgmotorsports.com) and I can work out pricing for you if you are interested.

Thanks for the input! You mentioned 20mm spacers, which brand did you get? Do you remember the size lugs that you ended up using? Do they rub on the street under normal conditions? I am debating 15mm or 20mm.

I use H & R Trak spacers. The ones that bolt to the car, then you bolt the wheel to the spacer. No new lugs needed and the spacer stays in place when you take the wheel off.
I went 20mm and could of gone a bit wider. Normal daily driving NO RUBBING at all even with 3 people in the car. On the track there was some rubbing in the rear but just the plastic fender trim. That melted away and now it's a custom fit! ha ha. I wouldn't go any less then 20mm. I have KW V3's on order so I may need to adjust this once the car is lowered. I will see. Good luck!

The only video I have is filmed from outside the car so the wind noise makes it impossible to hear. I'll get some footage soon and upload here.

Can you send me a link to the spacers that you got? Assuming they were the DRA Series?

I don't have a link. I bought them through my local shop that stocks them. Yes were DRA 20 mm H&R Spacers. They fit nice, could of gone a bit wider still but I'm lowering my car this week. Wanted the room.
