Winter wheels/tires?

Winter wheels/tires?
So I just got my '15 GLA45 with the 20" wheels. There are no tires available other than the OEM summer Continentals. I live in the Northeast and don't think they'll be very helpful in February. Any suggestions?
Can I put a different size tire on the wheels I have with minor speedo issues?
or
Should I get a new set of 19" wheels/tires for the winter? If so, any recommendations?
Thanks!

Get a set of 19's for the winter. There are several tires to choose from, unfortunately they all suck for cornering in dry cold weather. The best winter is the Nokian Hakka 8's, they're available in our 19" OEM size.

You can get a set of 18" wheels for winter.
In the owner manual they recommend 215/55R18 XL tires on a 7.5" wheel.
I just purchased a set of 18" replica wheels. They are 8" wide. I don't think I will be able to fit 215's.
Other sizes possible: 235/50R18 or 225/55R18.
225's are not XL though

19" wheels running on Dunlop Winter Sport 3D in 235/45-19. Pirelli Sottozero II's available in that size too, but I refuse to go with Pirelli because F1. Another option is the Nokian Hakka 8's if you're in a more extreme climate and don't need to worry about dry performance.

Looking good...I am debating GLA45 E1 or the Macan S.....I was totally turn off because I have to swap winter tires on the GLA45 but I just don't like the look of the Macan S. I might need to look for 18" or 19" winter tires set.

The reasoning for this pairing is that above all else I want a strong wheel. We dont have a spare and I've bent far too many Enkei's etc on the potholes of New England to go that route again. So for me, the BBS are worth the extra few hundred over some of the cheaper alternatives. One irritant is the need for centering rings, but where the BBS cost about $1K for a set, a genuine AMG or Brabus set is prohibitive and really overkill. Even used they're more $$$ than the BBS new. The tire choice of a performance snow over an outright ice/snow comes down to the kind of weather we get around here and the general preparedness of NE road crews. I dont normally have to move in truly severe weather and if I do, given the GLA has only 5 inches of ground clearance, I'd take my F-150 anyway. So for this vehicle, I'd rather have a tire that provides better cold weather wet braking/handling performance given deep snow on our roadways is rare. These tires are far better at what we actually drive on than the more extreme snows typically can provide.
Best of luck!

I have just bought BBS SR 18 inch +45 offset together with Michelin X-Ice 3 winter tyres (235/50-R18) which is the closest to OEM for my GLA 45. Photos will come as soon as I install it in some weeks time!

I ran the stock 20" wheels with Bridgestone Blizzak LM-32 in 245/40/20. No rub and went like a tank. I'm in WV and we get plenty of wet heavy snow and I had no issues at all. As a matter of fact I may be selling the tires. They r practically new. One winter with approx. 3500 miles on them. if you are interested let me know.

Here is mine with BBS SR 18" and Michelin X-Ice 3 235/50 R15 tyres. Suits perfectly with the mountain gray colour and the red calipers!

I just bought a set of Black Enkei MK52s (18x8) and put 245/50 Blizzaks on them at the suggestion of Tire Rack. They look great. I'll put them on today or tomorrow and post pictures.
Tire Rack says they will fit. I sure hope so.

I am sure they will fit. But why 245/50 18? They are little larger in diameter than stock and as it is a winter tyre, the wider is always worse in wintery conditions. Sure they will look meatier though

I agree, I thought I should have 215s or 225s but this is what Tire Rack recommended/had in stock. They are beasts size wise.

I tried to find 18 x 7.5 aftermarket wheels, but no luck. Not interested in spending $800 per wheel from the dealer.
Went with 19 x 8 MSW Type 26 in black with Pirelli SottoZero 3's in 235/45R19. I will post pictures once I get them.

I put conti DWSs on my sons car. Use them all year around. You give up a bit of tightness in dry conditions but they are excellent in rain and snow. I believe the size was 10 mm wider and the aspect ratio also one size off from stock but they fit and look perfect. I can get you the exact size if interested.
PS the stock tires are useless in the snow. Worst handling car I've ever driven in winter with stock tires

I bought a set of Pirelli Winter SottoZero's in 19s for the winter. Although due to manufacturer delays my 2016 was not delivered until winter was basically over here in Chicago I never installed them so I can't give you any performance feedback. I got 4 wheels, 4 tires and new sensors mounted balanced and shipped from Tire Rack for around $2100.

I recently sold my CLA 45 AMG and I'm shopping for a GLA 45. I still have a set of winter wheels/tires from my CLA. Will they fit on the GLA 45?

On a bright and sunny 18 deg C day in Calgary, I installed my winter tires. The Pirelli's ride great on a warm road, so it will be interesting to see how they perform on a typical cold and icy winter day.
I spent a lot of time looking for a jack adapter that would fit pocket in the vehicle's jack pad. I highly recommend the one pictured below from Reverse Logic.

Hi guys, I just bought a gla 45 2016 yesterday.
For winter, my dealership is strongly suggesting me the nokian hakka 8 size 225 45 19
Anyone have been driving with these ?
