LED lights

When I first started shopping for a GLC there was only the option of halogen lights versus "intelligent" LED lights.
The option of the "static" LED was not available unlike the C-class.
But lo and behold and here is one...

The intelligent lights have 2 lenses and state "led intelligent"
These have 1 lens and 1 reflector and state "led high performance"

Don't know if they can be swapped...but would probably be very expensive.

Intelligent LEDs came as standard on my 250d and are very effective....as well as looking brilliant!

Question: If the car comes with static LEds, is it worth it to up grade to "intelligent" LEDs?

No idea if this can be done at all....I would think a lot would depend on your personal driving habits and location. I personally drive a lot on unlit country roads and find ILEDs very effective.

Not sure what you mean by "if this can be done at all" when I asked IF the car comes with "static" LEDs, which mean it's installed from the factory.

I know the ILEDs are good but IS IT worth it to pay extra money over the standard "static" LEDs. (I am not talking the regular halogen lights).

Cheers

My last car, an Acura MDX had static LEDs which I thought were amazing. In the GLC I got the active LEDs. Watching them follow the path of the car on some winding curves around here, and even just going around corners, I've come to consider them a must have going forward for me. The adaptive high beam asset is a plus too. Either way, if LED, you'll be much happier than not having LED at all.

The reason I asked because the GLC43 does come with "high performance LED headlamp system" that's why I wondered if it worth the extra cost to get the ILEDs.

Question is .... Is static LED now a new option not available previously?

Intelligent led headlights...one of the best options on my GLC. Best $1500 I've ever spent.

A gaggle of MB's
On US spec 2017 GLC's - "standard" is halogen - the 2017 Premium 2 package includes "static LED's" - dynamic LED's are a $1,500 individual option

It sounds like many people are happy with their active LEDs. Why was mercedes LED system rated so harshly safety-wise?

Here's why (see link for test results below). The GLC wasn't included, but the 2016 C-Class results tell the story. All 3 lighting systems received an overall poor rating for the parameters evaluated. It's interesting that the only "good" rating -- for both the LEDs and the halogens -- is for right-side straightaway visibility on high beam. I have the halogens and think they are fine.

Just for my clarity (and sanity)...
So for 2016 modes static LED was not available?

It was available. You had to ask your dealer for that option. Here in canada, it was $1100 for static LEDs and $1700 for active LEDs with adaptive highbeams.
