I have leather and they have a different stitching pattern, that's why I guessed possibly Nappa Leather.
I think the Designo leather seats have a quilting stitch pattern to them .

Yes, they are Porcelain and Black Nappa Leather. This style of stitching is unique to the Nappa Leather seats.

Took the vehicle to the dealer yesterday, instead of swapping out the seat cover they refitted the existing one. Guess this will have to do until the issue crops up again, definitely looks way better then when I first got the vehicle.

Better, not great & not up to Mercedes Benz of old standards! Where has the pride of craftsmanship gone?

I think we need to disseminate this story "outside" of this forum if we're going to get any serious response from MB. Based on their reply to my email, they don't care about forums. To them, forums represent an esoteric microcosm of the motoring world. Only when the story shows up on major outlets, will they take notice and make the necessary changes to rectify the issue. At that point, it becomes an embarrassment to MB. For this reason, I forwarded the below link to Autoweek and Motortrend. Hopefully, they'll pick it up. Being that this is NOT a safety related defect, it's going to be more difficult to garner attention.

Thanks Sube. Nothing to loose and worth a try. I think you are absolutely correct MB will do nothing unless this shows up on a major outlet. Thanks for taking the lead!

bmnewmarket- Thanks for posting these- the front seats are awful! To GLEsube's point, my guess is that there is a different vendor for the front seats. Have you brought this to your dealers attention? Completely unacceptable! If anyone out there on our forum can get me the direct contact info for the GLE product manager's boss at MB USA/Daimler, please forward to me via PM. The GLE product manager should be fired... first for allowing this to happen & then second for burying it and not making it right for MB customers!

The seat issue I stumbled upon while looking for anything to do with the GLE43 SUV. I am not sure I had any level of concern till I actually looked at my seats and saw the difference front and back. I will be sending the pictures to the dealer to see what they say.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Have I reviewed this thread correctly that there are a total of (8) owners with this "issue" - (2) owners that have posted that they don't have the issue - and that (3) owner's with the issue have already had the problem fixed - cutting thru all the multiple posts - is my count correct ?

My MB dealer service department worked on my seats and here are the pictures.
Passenger seat before repair 1/29/17
Passenger seat after repair(?) 2/27/17
Driver seat before repair 1/29/17

I think it's worse than before.

They call that work? I call that a "visual" repair. They just "looked" at the seat, hoping it would get better all by itself.
This really pisses me off, and they're not even my seats!!!
The saga continues.......

This is my first MB and actually noticed it when I first got the car. I just thought it was a regular thing and not a defect.
Noticed this defect on the driver side door too! Anyone else have this?? Not a big deal but still...
