Do I have defective LED headlights?

Is this yellow light output normal or do I have defective lights? Noticed it one night when I was at a stop sign, the car in front of me was white and I could see the yellow band of light on the top when up close. I took this picture with a piece of white styrofoam placed in front of it, seem to have the yellowing on the sides also.

I haven't noticed the yellow line, but I have noticed the blue line. I just figured that was part of the way that LEDs work, never having had a car with LED's.

Our Touareg has Bi-Xeons, and they have something very similar to that blue line...

I would take it to the dealer and get it checked out. Doesn't seem right to me.

seems normal to me. I had LED headlight on my previous car which is a q50. it has the yellow line as well. could be a part of the light spectrum. my current gle 350 is the same.

When my new replacement seat cover arrives at the dealership I'll ask them to take a look at the lights also, my old 4Runner with HID conversion kit also had yellow banding but it was way thinner compared to what I am getting right now that's why I was curios.

the output in the above pic looks way off. I would take it to dealer. There is no clear cutoff and there seems to be a lot of glare.

I had a chance to look at ours last night against a wall, and it looks very much like this. I have NOT noticed that they are lacking at all while driving at night, so I'd have a hard time thinking that there's anything wrong with them.

Doesn't hurt to run it by the dealer, though, for peace-of-mind...

It's been far too many years for me to be spoutin' off about science, but if I might guess...it looks like light diffraction, i.e. a rainbow. Could it be that some of the light is passing through the slits in the long snake thingy at the top of the headlight and the light is merely breaking up into its color parts?

Anyway, mine has it too. But I couldn't see for a half an hour after looking real close into my beams...

just looked at my wife's Acadia tonight. HID (replaced recently so pretty brand new) and there is a thin yellow band across the top of the beam. more noticeable in some spots than others. haven't looked at my led's as yet. just fyi. ron

Probably a prismatic effect from passing through the acrylic outer cover.

Service manager/technician took a look at it yesterday and said "it's normal" so will leave it at that...
