European Delivery - 2014 GLK 250 BlueTec
Picking up your Mercedes in Europe is really a great adventure. They have everything figured out and you just need to follow their instructions for taxi, hotel, picking up your car etc. We ordered the car about 3 months before the pickup date. Part of the wait was because the 2014 GLK had not started production when I wanted to order it and it was too late to order a 2013. We purchased a Polar White with Sahara Beige MB-Tex/Mocha. It has the 2.2 Turbocharged I4 Diesel Engine with 4MATIC. I would have gotten rear wheel drive but it was not available for delivery in the US. Our options included PO1 Premium Package, 319 Lighting Package, 320 Multimedia Package, Heated Front Seats, 996 Parking Assistance Package. The options were somewhat expensive, however we felt they were worth it for all the safety features included in the packages. My favorite was the Active Blind Spot Assist and my wives favorite was the parking assist with surround view camera system. I also very much liked the DISTRONIC PLUS and the Bi-xenon headlights. I am 73 and my wife is 65.

first post
38, bought my glk 350 in May 2009 when I was 34. First MB after a series of company cars and used cars. First MB and first one I got off the lot brand new by myself. First MB in the family was my dad's 1977 280 SE which was a beauty until I drove it into a flood during university.
favorate previous car: 1987 E30 BMW 325iC bronze convertible first generation 3 series convertible. Purchased used in 1989 and had babied for 17 years before selling due to limited garage space and new family on the way. My cousin who bought it totalled it 6 months later. Still upsetting years later.
GLK has been great so far. Back seat space tighter than expected with two car seats but bearable. No major issues which is great but makes the extended warranty purchase I got not the best investment but a good insurance.

Man, what a spread. Very interesting. I'm 62 with a 59 yr old wife. It's my 8th Benz
In Benz I've had:
1983 300D White with Tan interior
1985 300D Blue with Tan interior - these aren't fast but indestructible
1989 190E Champagne with a Tan interior - a lot of fun to drive
1993 E320 White with a Gray interior - those straight 6's were the best
2000 E320 White with a Tan interior - my favorite to drive
2006 E320D Silver with a Gray interior - those W211 interiors are a mess
2003 C320 4Matic Black with a Black interior - cheap fun
2010 GLK350 4Matic - nice but not as much fun to drive as the W210
All my cars? Never tried this before. 1962 Chevy 327 coupe, 1965 Ford Galaxie 352, 1967 Chevy SS 396, 1975 Ford Mustang II fastback, 1957 Cadillac Sedan, 1969 Chevy Caprice 427, 1979 VW Rabbit Diesel, 1983 Buick T Type Turbo, 1956 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup with a Corvette 327, 1983 300D, 1986 Honda Civic Si Hatchback, 1989 Plymouth Grand Voyager, 1983 GMC Pickup Diesel, 1985 300D, 1990 Lexus LS400, 1994 Audi 200(?), 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan, 1989 190E, 1986 GMC Pickup 454, 1999 Chevy Suburban, 1994 E320, 2004 GMC Denali, 2000 E320, 2006 E320D, 2007 RX350, 2009 Ram Diesel, 2004 Lexus LS430, 2003 C320 4Matic, 2010 GLK 350 4Matic
Whew! I probably missed a few....
My wife drives the LS430 and I the GLK. The Lexus is incredibly well built but not as much fun to drive. The perfect passengers car.
I'm happy for the Millenial's with a new GLK but where do you go from here?
My Benz to lust after is a 2001 to 2006 C55 AMG. Amazing car to drive and a ticket magnet. When you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

2014 GLK250 BlueTEC, 2012 BMW 335is Conv.
I'm slightly older but I--sadly--have not found it difficult at all to buy a new Mercedes that costs many thousands of dollars more than the one before it. There's still plenty of more room to go up without even leaving the Mercedes family. If I live long enough, I'll end with a SL65 Black Series, in which case I want to be cremated, put in the glovebox, and driven around forever. If all the ashes stay in the urn, you're not driving enthusiastically enough.
