Using Key Fob for Rear Hatch
Has anyone had a problem when pushing the rear hatch symbol on the fob and the hatch only opens a few inches and then stops or reverses itself and closes?

Yes, on occasion. I use the handle under the license plate to open it and clear the problem. Seems to be random -- have not been able to correlate it with any particular situation.

it's a pretty common problem with glk's....several members, including myself had issues with it. i had the motor for the tailgate replaced within the first month of owning.

Yep! a few times. Used the handle to open and it worked. Did not bother to report to the dealer. They will not find the problem!

Spoke to my SA. He said there is a programming fix for the problem. This is over and above the unpublished recall for adjustment (alignment) on the rear hatch. Need to make appointment to have it fixed. Will let you know if it works.

Seems to be a common problem which has been reported numerous times on this section of the forum. I can't help but wonder if it's being exacerbated by family members (who haven't been briefed on the auto-close methods) who manually close the tailgate instead of using the key fob or pressing the close button on the tailgate to do it electrically.
P.S. Be sure you sign up on the TrueDelta Car Reliability Research site and document your problem.

I have had my rear hatch 'fixed' 6 times, inluding motor replacement and programing etc. Same issue as others describe, hatch opens 1-2 inches and stops or reverses. My service people are pretty good, I just believe it is not the best design from MB.
Talking the GLK in for service (tire replacement at 40,000 miles) and will have then look at it again.

My GLK has the same problem. It seems to be getting worst as time goes on. I rarely manually close the hatch door unless it's stuck so I'm not sure what the cause is. Maybe it does need a new motor as others have suggested. I'm getting an oil change in a few days and will ask the dealer to check it out.
