Interesting, my dealer said saving was only about 10% but if car was leased it was more like 30%. Don't know how he figured that. MB say in literature that saving could be UP TO 30%, but they don't document how.

Despite what previous poster said, in Canada the prepaid plan can only be taken out BEFORE the first service is due. And that service is nothing more than an oil and filter change, fluid top up and check brake wear. My Chev dealer used to charge me $25 for that when I had a Chev Tahoe.

In the link below are the offerings for the GLK250. There doesn't seem to be a 5yr plan. For $1999, you get 5 services within 48 months which will allow you to do 75k km without additional cost. Average of $400/service.

You save more when leasing because the cost of the plan is capitalized into the lease. That means it's subject to the residual value and thus you don't actually pay the full price of the plan.

I'll bet you pay plenty if it is built into the lease.

1st thing to remember - Prepaid Maintenance is not transferable and is not refundable.

Now, on purcahsing a new GLK350 - and if you intend to own out past 40K miles - then MAXIMUM savings is to purcahse 30K prepaid pack AFTER your initial 10K service but BEFORE your 20K service.

A 30K pac when you buy new at 0 miles covers 10-20-30 which is A-B-A.

Same pack - same cost - purcahse after 10K and before 20K covers B-A-B and the 40K B service is actually a B++ cost if paid separately.

If considering prepaid maintenance on a CPO pre-owned Mercedes (or any Mercedes at all actually) - understand on earlier GLK's there is a Big/Big "hump" in cost at 40K due to tranny service - which under Prepaid WILL be covered - and in 13/14's this tranny service moves to 70K but many dealers try to sneak it over on you.

So - ALWAYS check cost of a Prepaid Service pack 20K/30K BEFORE you check in on a service "hump" - you can't change to prepaid maintenance if you have already opened a service ticket.

More food for thought to save more money !
I am not sure this strategy will work, as you have to buy the pack BEFORE your first, 10K, service.
