Low Beam Focus Height Adjustment on the GLK
Hi All,
I dont believe this question has been asked earlier..
Is it possible to adjust the focus height of the low beam in the GLK? The wife and I were travelling at night out station and in pitch darkness realized our low beam only illuminates for say approx. 6mtrs ahead of us, which in my opinion is quite less when were doing say a speed of 120kmph. Needless to say, we had to remain on High Beams thorughout the drive.
Our Honda Accord has the ability to adjust the low beam focus height so was wondering why not MB?

Do you have BiXenon? If yes, look at the red circles at the below picture. You will see a hole. You need an allen wrench to make the adjustment.
It might be the same with the halogen lights, but I'm not sure.

Be careful that you make any adjustments while the vehicle is on level ground. If you Google MB headlight adjustment you will find some good articles but what they all tell you is that there is a certain distance that the vehicle should be from a wall that will let you see accurately the height of the beams. What looks good to you may be a nuisance to oncoming drivers so be mindful when you make the adjustment. In most states head beam alignment is checked if you have required vehicle inspections. I would let someone with the right right tools do the job for you if you have any doubts.

Sorry, but I can't help in this case. I didn't change anything to my post and every time I check on this thread I see it. ?? Maybe a webmaster can enlighten us.
=============================
Now I have a question about the posts itself. I can't see the "edit" button on my original post. Does it disappear after a few days or what? I still can edit my 2 other posts in this thread, but not the one with the picture. I wanted to check for a problem. Anybody knows ?

The post option only stays up for a couple of days for each post. Where is the original picture? Is it on your PC or is it hosted at a web site?

Picture: hosted at a web site.
what do you mean by "on my PC"? Is there a function to just upload a picture to this server ? Every time I click on the picture icon above, it asks me for the URL of my picture to be inserted.

Can you please post the picture to photobucket.com, and then put a link to it here?
I also have this problem...they are adjusted too close. It's pretty dangerous in the interstate, going 75mph or so, and you can only see maybe 30ft in front of you. It's not like halogen headlights w/o projectors where there is still some light scatter up front, in case a deer jumps out and you can see his reflecting eyes. With the bixenon's there is a very sharp cut off line and no light scatter beyond the 30ft or so. Raising them just a bit shouldn't blind anyone.

I noticed this too.
Went to the dealer last week for my A service and they state it is "normal"?
I mentioned it seems different when originally picked up GLK about a year ago. Do these things self adjust with wear?
Luckily, I have changed my bulbs in the fog for better "whiteness" and a tad brighter.
I am going to check with another dealer in the US and see what they say.
Can't report back for at least another week or so....

The head lights are supposed to compensate for up and down hill automatically.
I found this on another site. Might be the problem:
"Should your Mercedes Benz have badly aimed self adjusting Bi-Xenon lights. If the beam is off, then their could be a problem with the axle sensor, or the a suspension problem causing the lights to be out of adjustment."
There are several sites that tell you how to adjust lights manually but what I read on one German site is that the self adjusting headlights are controlled by you guessed it a computer. If the value is off then the reference for level will be out of kilter. You should call MB just to ask if that is the case.

Folks, I have a 2013GLK250 with the xenon steering headlamps. Before we bought the car, it was in a minor front fender bender. No problem, except that the right headlight is too high. I need to adjust it. I don't see the referenced picture in this thread. Does anyone have instructions / pictures? I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Gordon
