Close on what? I'm lost. Get what you want. If it's great, it was all your decision. If it's terrible, it was all your decision. That way we can't be blamed.

Good luck! Enjoy. Share photos please.

I am close to closing a deal on a 2011 GLK with 10K miles for 30.5K....the other option is the 2012 CRV (a fully loaded is only 28.5K)...This is a big decision for my wife and I. We are looking for your opinions as owners for GLK's. BTW, if we do get a GLK, it would be our first MB.

Let's put it this way....
NO one will notice if you drive a CRV.
On the other hand, if you drive a GLK your co-workers will be jealous.

Pet1700,
How will you use the new SUV? Got kids? Going to make some? Dogs? Tow a boat? Mostly city or mostly highway driving? Tell us your important needs in an SUV. Then we can tell you how the GLK might fill those needs.
I can tell you that one of my favorite pastimes in either one of my cars is coming up behind a CR-V driving 55 mph in 70 mph speed zones and sucking their doors off when blow by them. The reverse is not very plausible.

What if your co-workers drive a Cayenne & looks @ your GLK as the CR-V?

hahaha...
Cayenne vs CRV
Cayenne vs GLK
Which one is better?

Fortunately, none of my co-worker has a Cayenne yet.
The closest one is a 2011 Maxima. .

Anyway, if I have to pick between the CRV and GLK.
GLK would be my 1st choice.

Pet1700,
Once you drive the GLK, you'll quickly forget it's a little SUV.
I am sure you'll like it.
Of course, it's all come down to what you really like.
Good luck with your choice.

pet1700,

If the GLK is still in the running, make sure it has had Service A which is due at 10,000 miles and can cost up to $300. Does the GLK come with any extended warranty? Who is selling it? Dealer? Private sale?

Where I work, an X-3 would have been lost in the heard of X-3s, 3 series, M3s and 5 series BMWs. I wanted something that would be different.

Guys,

Just want to share the great news....Drum roll....ended up getting the GLK...It is a 2011 GLK dark silver with dark and wood interior, heated seats and panarama moonroof...9K miles...for only $30.9K. The car was only titled to the dealer as it was a demo/service car. It looks brand new from inside out. The car is also certified (warranty valid until 4/13/2016 or 100K miles) and bonus 1.9% financing for 66 months...I think we got an awesome car and deal!...what do you guys think?

I assume it's a CPO & that warranty is worth it's weight in gold.

OK, we have tried to give you some input. It seemed like you were on the fence. You bought the car. You like it. We asked for pix. You asked us again if you think it was a good deal. A good deal is one where you feel justified about the price you paid. It's about you being happy and you feeling that you got a good deal not us. So don't ask after the fact if you got a good deal.

And now our last comments, we think the deal sux go and return the car. Are you going to listen to us???????

Well said Ken. That's our final answer. 'Nuff said.

Go drive the car. Look for folks clogging up the road trying be all Green & conservative. Suck their doors off as you pass them.
Familiarize yourself with the GLK. There are a bewildering array of switches, features, bells, whistles, gizmos and widgets. Get to know them. Helps to have the manual in one hand.
How are the brakes? Give them a good workout. Report back. Several folks with 2010 models complained of under performing brakes. Apparently the 2011 & 2012 models don't have brake problems.
Start saving up for Service A at 10,000 miles. Same for the COMPLETE transmission flush NOT LATER THAN 39,000 miles. You can find all the information you need here to educate your dealer on the correct procedure.

ps: What color is "dark silver"? Steel Grey or Palladium Silver or Sapphire Grey?

Have fun!

Wayne

Good choice, you made the right decision, congrats! The GLK stands out from the crowd, there is something special about a Mercedes, once you drive one, you know!

Regarding Cayenne's mentioned earlier, there are a TON of Cayenne's up here where I live, more so than 911's, and to be honest, they are too bland and boring, I would never buy one. With the money I saved versus a Cayenne turbo, putting it towards a summer car (M3 or AMG, here I come!)

While the comments in this poll have been for the most part fair, I wouldn't expect it any other ways in a GLK thread.
& it could be easily flipped in an Acura RDX or Q5 or X3 board.

All the cute -utes have their merits & basing comps solely on style/looks is personal choice not defacto.
& you know what they say - "Opions are like @ssholes - Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks."

Since I'm still on this thread--First-congrats on the GLK purchase and as someone said above, and/or on another thread--a GLK350 is not only good looking but a downright sexy-hot looking car! Looks apart, I'm going to cut and paste this from another thread that I posted regarding the safety of a GLK.--Mine is a 2012 but there isn't a lot of difference safety wise. So here goes and I hope this helps settle your buyer's remorse!
From other post:
I'm more sold now than ever before, on Mercedes Benz and the quality and safety of their automobiles!
Over Super Bowl weekend, my wife and I were driving to San Diego for a Super Bowl party and to spend the weekend with family. We live in Ventura CA and SD is about 180 miles south of us. Anyone living in So CA knows the freeways can be crazy and very dangerous if you aren't always on alert.

While merging from the transition freeway 78 to the I-15 south, the traffic slowed down to around 60 mph in the merging lane, and I looked over to my left once I was on the I-15, to make sure it was clear to move to the next lane and then into the left diamond lane (car pool lane). When I did a car came shooting across from the diamond lane and into the lane next to me that I was pulling into. At the same time, the cars in front of me came to a near stop! I instantly jerked the steering wheel hard to the right and again back into and then out of my current lane and then right into the right open lane (2-car length)!

If it had been any other car or SUV it would have rolled over! The brakes and the all-wheel drive took over and outside of brakes screeching and a lot of sliding, it reacted like a car you would see in a move with a stunt driver! It took control so fast that I never had a chance to think about braking or re-braking like you would on a 2-wheel drive and all I could say when my wife asked me if I was ok was, "Damn what an car!" I've had 5 MBs in the last 13 years and I'll never buy anything else. There is no doubt in my mind that we would have rolled and possibly been killed if it hadn't been a MB 4W vehicle. Just wanted to share as I see threads on how they aren't as good as xxx brand--don't believe it! Test drive one and see for yourself.
