How to adjust the Bi-Xenon lighting pattern

The new 2012 GLK came with Bi-Xenon lights - nice and bright - but the light pattern is WAY lower than the Halogen lights on the old 2010 GLK - the sharp cutoff angles of the Bi-Xenons on dark mountain highways makes it downright nerve racking sometimes. The 2010 Halogen lights were definitely better IMHO under the same conditions. Leads me to suspect that the 2012 Bi-X lights might be aimed a little low - OK side to side. Is there any DIY vertical adjustment? Thanks

I believe you need STAR to do it right. Go to dealer, they'll do it for you on a brand new car while you wait.

This is true, but like I said you need STAR to do this correctly. First the car must be perfectly level in all 4 axis. Then use STAR to first disable the self-leveling feature ... then manually adjust the lens beam to proper zero V/H hold for both sides, then use STAR again to re-activate the self-Leveling feature.

Use the high beams. They aren't low.

If the lights are the OEM Bi-Xenons the adjustment of the fixture for correct aim will affect both main and dipped beam.

Thanks everyone / AllanX204 - I set up a quick guide in the garage to raise the lights a little and it is a LOT better. But I guess I will take it by MB for a quick check anyway.

I had purchased a Tire & Wheel package since the GLK came with the AMG package. They had a third party come in and repair it. You cant even tell that it was damaged before.

Yup, but it's a spin of the dice. If the 3rd party wheel doctor are good and competent, you're peachy, if not, you're out of luck. Had a wheel repaired at an Infinity/Nissan dealership (for my GT-R). They ruined it. Dealer bought me a new one. So it all depends of the guy doing the repair.

The MB dealer in my area did all 4 of mine. two were damaged and since I wanted all 4 to match exactly I had them do all 4. The bill was $500.

Found out later that these are the people they use. Others on a different forum told me they charge on average $100 per wheel. They do curb rash and wheel straightening. See their web site.

They did great work.

My Point: The Bi-Xenon high beams light up the world.

So. How does one know if the low beams are aimed too low?
