New to the Forum

Hello all,

My name's Dan and I ordered a 2013 GLK 350 a while ago. It should arrive in Seattle around the 1st week in September. I've been lurking on the forum for quite a while trying to assess whether or not I wanted to buy a GLK, and this forum allowed me to make an informed decision and I'm pleased to be apart of the community. I'm upgrading from an '07 Honda Civic Si which I bought brand new.. I wanted to buy another Honda but I wasn't happy with any of there AWD offerings (I snowboard a lot) and I don't like Acuras. Having spent the majority of my youth living in Sindelfingen, Germany I was partial to the possibility of buying a Mercedes. Also my Dad had an old '89 190 E which was a tank. So I did some research in the small SUV market and took a look at my finances and decided that the GLK 350 was what I wanted.

I'm a Captain (Field Artillery) in the US Army and currently serving a tour in Afghanistan. I'll be home soon and I can't wait to pick up my new car. I also ride an '07 Buell XB12Scg.

Glad to be a part of the forum and nice to meet everyone.

Congrats! The facelifted GLK is so much better looking than the old one plus the interior is beautiful, good luck with it! I must say though, quattro is the best AWD system. IMO quattro>4matic>xdrive. Audi Allroads are unstoppable in the snow, but im sure your GLK will do just fine

I've never had the opportunity to utilize Quattro in any environment except the autobahn.

I remember my father and I took a trip to Bastogne in the winter to visit all the old battlefields. We had rented a 2003 ML with a diesel and 4Matic. It was unstoppable in the snow, I couldn't believe the type of traction I was getting.. Ever since then I've looked favorably upon Mercedes AWD systems.

I did look long and hard at the Audi Q5, but I would be lying to you if I told you that my experiences growing up with MB didn't have something to do with my decision.
