Mr. JLT's GLK

Hello everyone. My wife picked up a Black 11 GLK a little while back and has been wanting to have a few things done. She has always loved black on black vehicles so this one will be no different than the rest of the cars she has owned. For starters everything is going to get paint matched.(window trim, fog light trim, grill, hatch scuff plate, and lower door side trim unless I can remove it with out repainting all 4 doors. I already picked up new emblems for the rear hatch so I can paint match them unless she likes the hatch shaved instead. The windows could use some tint but nothing to dark. I can't tell you all whats in store to keep you guessing. Some of you may like it and others will hate it. But I'm building it the way my Mrs wants it. ;-)

I picked her up a set of 20x10 Hre 560C's Did a little test fit and they fit great. So I'll redo them over the winter. Gloss black centers with gloss black lips. And I may change the tires from 265/30/20 to a taller side wall.

And a little test fit before winter shows its face. I'm looking at coilovers (Kw's) to take care of the wheel gap.
And the calipers could use some paint as well since then can be seen with the Hre's on. She's not sure on the color yet. Or I may just build my own BBK for the GLK.

Here's a few pictures before I get busy on paint matching everything.

JLT great job; those rims look perfect on black. I was considering getting black rims for my white GLK but after looking at your pics, I may reconsider!

The wheels are 3pc Hre 560C's brushed centers with polished lips
20x10 with staggered lips
rears have 4 inch lips offset is 30(ET30)
front have 3.5inch lips offset is 28(ET28)
Hub bore is 66

I got them from a buddy that had them on his A8 since he had some Rotiform TMB's made for it.

So today the Mrs had the windows tinted and they turned out pretty well. As for me I removed all the lower chrome trim off the bottoms of all 4 doors and then buffed the out and through a little wax on them. I also removed the GLK 350, 4 matic and center mercedes emblems and gave the hatch a little buff too and some wax. If you replace/reinstall the rear hatch mercedes emblem, remember to get 3 new grommets for the mounting holes. As for the other 2 emblems they come with new double sided tape.
I'll get some pics tomorrow as its about time to catch some ZZZzzzz's

Here's a few pics of the tint and chrome trim and emblems removed. And some pics before I head to work and then off to my buddies shop for some paint matching.

So my buddy Joe and I were able to knock a few things out today.
Removed the front bumper, plastic welded up the holes since the bumper had holes in it from the front plate. Got it all prepped and primered up.
Removed the fog light chrome trim and prepped it
Masked off the chrome window trim and prepped it
Prepped the new rear hatch mercedes emblem
Removed the front grill and disassembled it and prepped the big star and the grill slats
Removed the tail and fog lights and prepped and smoked them.
Heres a few pics I took with my phone I'll load more tomorrow

So we were able to get most of the work done today. Paint matched the reflectors, chrome bumper trim and rear hatch scuff plate on top of the rear bumper.

Paint matached the chrome trim under the windows

Looks badass from all angles as expected JLT. I love the black exhaust tips. I like the rims as is but can't wait to see the black ones. I suspect I may change my mind when I see them.

Overall one of the best looking GLKs I've seen!
