'13 GLK Brake Rotors
Hey All,
FYI. Took my '13 GLK350 w/ 6k ODO in for 'brake pulsing' yesterday; I could feel brake pedal pulsing ever-so-slightly upon slight pressure and/or coming to a routine stop. This was not the ABS kicking-in. To me, it felt like a warped rotor. Turns-out it was. Dealer found a 'hot spot' on driver's side rotor and promptly replaced both front rotors. Dealer further stated this is a known issue on GLKs and reminded me MB only covers rotors for 12-months or 12K miles; rotors are considered 'wear and tear.' For anyone out there experiencing a slight brake pulse when applying brake, get the GLK to your dealer in first year or 12K, whichever comes first. Had I waited, which I tend to do, I would have faced an expensive repair on a still new-to-me GLK.

Good to know! Thanks for posting, I'm picking about pulsating pedals so I'll keep an eye out. I'm guessing the rotors are the same on the GLK250.

I have a 2013 GLK 350 that went in to the shop today.. The Benz dealership (where I bought my GLK) called me back and told me it was my rotors. I mentioned that I can't believe less than 24,000 miles on a Mercedes Benz (my 1st one) and I've had Hondas, an Acura and a Volvo that I had 5 - 8 yrs and never had to replace rotors, maybe on 1 vehicle, etc.. He told me typically the rotors will last 23,000 - 25,000 miles?? Is this unreal or is this a bad dream? A $58,000 GLK and I have to look forward to paying for new rotors every X number of miles? They replaced these rotors for me as a courtesy under warranty.. Folks what I am missing here? Honestly doesn't quality also mean durability? I am not a harsh driver and living in Pittsburgh, PA.. its not like I do any off roading, etc. Honestly I am really beside myself because I am not keeping a vehicle that requires excessive feeding and expense, I think this is crazy. Is it me?

I posted on this same issue with my GLK a couple of weeks ago.

Been through two sets of front rotors in less than a year.
Houston...do we have a problem?

I think it is your foot.My 2011 glk has traveled 45k and my rotors are still 8mm thick. I drive 20 km back to back on pure city driving. Haven't changed the pads as well but yes it does makes my rims go black.

On the GLK the brakes will lightly pulse when the wipers are on to keep the brakes dry for better stopping in the wet. Does anyone know whether leaving the wipers on at the automatic setting will cause the brakes to pulse when weather is dry? If so this could be causing wear.

Hi Shotgun, I understand your thoughts.. However with being 51 yrs old, I've driven for quite a number of years. I still drive the same and have the same feet, the only thing that has changed was my vehicle. I'm not sure, however I will keep that in mind, you never know.

Kudos to the posters on this thread for the "heads up".
A 14 GLK 250 B/T with less than 2,000 miles here. I will make it a point to have it looked at @ at the included 5k tire rotation and included 10,000 miles service which will include another tire rotation.
This might be TMI, but "German standards" require changing of both the brake pads AND rotors when it is time. I do know that in the US many times the current rotors (German) are used again with only the pads changed. Most US market rotors are manufactured to be much harder than the German standards, ergo they are used for more than one pad change. Now this does not NECESSARILY mean German standard rotors do not last as long.
So for example, I have German standard pads and rotors that currently are @ 187,000 miles and will easily hit 250,000 miles (2003 Jetta TDI)

good luck and thanks.. update us if you get the chance, I would be more than curious. I am still waiting for someone from the dealership here to get back to me regarding whether this is typical or not.. We will see what happens. According to their service person I spoke with it is.. We will see.

Thanks GT. I had no idea about this.. great and appreciate the information. from speaking with a friend yesterday, I guess VW does something similar on some of their models. Great to know and just in case, I turned off my auto wipers.

2013 MB GLK Rotors
Our 2013 GLK is in the shop today for its 20,000 mile inspection. We were told (and I suspected) that we need new front rotors again! They had been replaced at less than 6,000 miles.
Has anyone had any luck getting MB to pay for this very substandard performance?

My esperience from MBWORLD forum.
I've been fortunate in that MB has never tried to charge me for any of the 5 rotor replacements. But I hate this.

Little known secret. Actually rotors can be warrantied up to 23,000 miles if I remember correctly. They warrantied mine at 16000 miles. So have your service advisor check with the warranty people in the dealership.

2013 GLK 350 4Matic
I have about 32,000 miles on my 2013 Glk350 4Matic and the brakes aren't an issue for me. It was a CPO I bought a little over a year ago with 22,000 miles on it. I'm not sure if the rotors were replaced before I bought it, but i haven't noticed any pulsating enough to warrant concern. I plan to switch over to ceramic pads at the B service next August and will swap out rotors at that time even if they still have some life left. The brake dust is atrocious!

I redid my front & rears at 22.5 K miles.
They were just worn out, not warped, so no warranty and all four rotors had to be replaced...
