2014 GLK250
Navigation system

Hi everyone,

I just got my 2013 GLK250 a week ago and I'm absolutely in love with it. It's just about perfect, except...for Navi. For people who have navi, do you know if there's an option where my car can always be heading "up"? Currently, if I'm driving south, the arrow will be moving down and the highlighted route is going down on the screen. I'd like it more like Garmin/TomToms, where my position is always heading up, so its easier for me to figure out turns and whatnot. I've fiddled around with the navigation unit for a bit but can't seem to find that option so was wondering if its even available.

Thanks!

Yes there is a way to switch it... its annoying as it took me a while to figure it out on our C350, but now our GLK250 was already facing the right way.

If you cant figure it out, the dealership will do it for you.

Have you tried the 3d view v.s 2d view?
The manual mentions you can select the direction in 2d view.

Also there was a large update on the software a few months ago, not sure if 2014 already have it. You have to plug it into your PC anyway to confirm you have the latest maps

Was there an update to the software or to the maps? Where would you put the PC to update the COMAND?

Update to actual Nav software, new menu, a little layout. Maps can only be updated if you plug in 45 days since first use, but it only went from Q1 2011 to Q3 2011 This was on 2013 GLK

The unit is removed from the glovebox and plugged in with the supplied USB cable

A gaggle of MB's
Bugal boy - there are two Navi's used in the GLK - you are describing the Becker Map Pilot used with the Audio 20 system and the better Navi is part of the Multi-Media option called COMAND

I understand you meant Becker - and I understand you weren't aware of the COMAND system - that's the reason for the clarification - have fun !

2013 GLK
I have the COMAND Navi, and I find it to be pretty cheap looking for Mercedes IMO.

Does the new Command have 3D mode? In 3D you can see a lot farther ahead than in 2 D since the screen is wide but not tall. The 3D perspective stretches the view. You can only have heading up in 3D mode.
