White paint and salt
So we have a white glk and do a lot of highway driving, the weather here has been terrible and the salt trucks are out and about. We'll after a rinse I see that the salt leaves little yellow spots almost look like rust,.... I read online that I can use a product named ironx to wipe all the crap away. Has anyone used this or can somebody recommend something else. Sucks that's we need to do this maybe we should've coughed up some extra cash and get another colour but white.

At least with white, you can see the spots. We took the other no upcharge choice - Black. It shows the dirt much worse than white (we also have a white car).
Have never seen those small rust marks but I see from the ironx youtube videos that it does exist.

There are two things to be done...
2nd) Starting with a clean GLK apply a good tech sealant designed for the nano-clear coat.. GLK.. objective is to apply a thin even layer on the clean paint doing one section at a time... apply one section, thin even coat, let dry to haze (a couple of min) but let sit/set/cure for 30 minutes before wiping off haze... easy wipe-on-wipe-off application for for wheels too... very affordable using right product Glanzwax Blue Top:
1) To get those hard-water/"rust" spots off - to get your car clean and up-to-snuff- lightly spray apply a 1-5 mix of white vinegar and distilled/purified water on the spotted area.. wipe lightly after a couple of minutes...the 15%-20% vinegar dilution will dissolve the deposit, make sure to rinse thoroughly with fresh/clean water
Keep the beat !

It seems to me a good wax along with cleaning the salt off right away should solve most of your issues. I would worry more about the salt in all the nooks and crannies under the car. I would use a car wash that has a good salt neutralizing spray for the underside and keep the paint waxed with a quality product.

"hard water" spots can be a temperamental issue with the type of nano-clearcoat Mercedes does use - the clearcoat is harder, more rugged, and infintiely more UV resistant but the clearcoat surface is not smooth- more like micro-sharkskin - as a result hard-water-spots tend to adhere - which makes in some instances a light white vinegar/water mix a good way to break up those nasties, flushed clean with water - that surface characteristic is the reason for the new-tech sealants - and why those same sealants give a better base for top coat wax adhesion - the fortunate fact the right new-tech sealants are affordable/wipe-on-wipe-off - and beat the heck out of the old-buff-away nonsense with older/dated paint tech.. I have seen micro-fiber rubbing cause surface scratches dragging hard micro-material across the clear coat - like not uncommon - which could have been easily prevneted/avoided..

NAve a 2010 white 350 GLK. The white hides the dirt until you get close then the salt and dirt shows. Here in the Philadelphia area we use a lot of salt and pre-brine. We've had a lot of snow over the last 2 years, but I have never seen what you describe (yellow spots). 4 years of taking the car to the auto wash once a month has not seemed to have been detrimental. Sure it may not be concourse, but it still looks great. White does show the bugs.

Pretty much what the others have said. I'll wait until spring before wasting your energy proceeding with ironX or putting in the hours claying your car this early on. Its just rail dust, so don't worry. I also have a white GLK, but its the diamond white. It seems to be less prone to rail dust than other solid white cars I've had in the past.
