opinion on this new shoe setup

http://www.BenzBlogger.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/2014-GL63-AMG-Wheels.jpg

I will be getting new shoes for my glk and found a nice reps that I think will match the boxy look of the glk. I am planning on this setup 245/45r20 and the wheels are like this and 9" wide.

Would I be asking for trouble with this setup?

Looks nice. But not enough difference for me from the 20" options that came with GLK. I am going for CV3s for the summer ride.

And that tire setup is fine, my scorpions are 235/45r20 and 8.5". Extra 0.5" and slightly bigger tire all around will not give you any trouble.

Okay got it mounted on stock tires. Not too bad but I wanna know what you guys think. I have not bought them yet still on the fence.

The tires are the stock Dunlops that came with the car 235/45. It would be perfect if it was 245 or even 255s on these rims as I find the wheels a tad stretched because it is 9". The 35 offset does makes the wheels perfectly flush with the fender though.

i like it less in that picture lol. its very personal... for me the center star with all the spokes coming out so slow is too bulky...

I won't blame you. There is something with it to me as well that I just can't explain. One of the thing that kinda puts me off is the curve of the spoke is poking out further than the lip of the rim. I need to find a GL AMG that has the real thing and see if it does the same. I am just afraid that the wife will murder these rims more because of those poking-out curved spokes. I really need to find a 8.5" - 9" wide rim that will house a OE mb centre cap and it is just darn hard to find one. Is there a way to find out if a aftermarket wheel can fit a OE centre cap if the centre bore is exactly the same as the original wheels or every aftermarket wheel is known that OE centre cap won't fit? or should I start bringing the OE centre cap with me and try it on each and every rim that I like?

All center caps are different, but they are also available in diffirent nominclature sizes. For example factory Vossen center cap sizes are the same as mercedes, but the same center caps wont take Audi's oem caps. MB size is 3" or 75mm.
Most caps are plastic with some chrome features and will run you anywhere from 7$ to 30$ each.
here here

Regardless, the spokes bulging out is an even bigger dislike for me.
These are the oem wheels (that are pricey as hell, at 1k per wheel):
http://1drv.ms/1rmB3wL
http://1drv.ms/1rmBeIm

And like i say, im firm on my best looking wheel for GLK being the CV-3.
Discussed on this forum before, but oversized. I would go with 20" with the same matte black machined finish with a slightly bigger offset. Also they would look completely different on a darker vehicle.

Also, if the biggest worry is keeping rims safe, i would not go with 20s lol. drop down to 14" jeep wheels with offroad tires. make it a challenge for your wife to kill those

I actually like those CV3s. I found a replica of those as well not bad for $235 each. I might just go with that as well.

The one's on russian site (since i can actually read it lol) seem to have no concavity to them. Nor do the replicas. That is what i like about CV3s along with the clean 5 spoke look.

Here in calgary the vossens at 20" are 635 per, once i agreed to pay that price it doesnt seem to be that bad

Regardless of your choice, i think you can find some better looking rims than those GLs lol. I like some OEM wheels, but that one is not my cup of tea.

I saw the replicas and the concaveness is not that deep but looks good IMO. Here is a photoshop of those Matt wheels on a silver GLK. I tried to correct the color as much as I can. Wife digs it by the way, me 70% maybe. What you think? This is how it compares with the stock AMG rims

Looks good imo. My sister recently put on some matte core racing wheels on her mazda3, i dislike the bluish hue coming off from the matte finish. Not sure if all matte wheels look the same. The painted black chrome might look better since it would add the shine like the rest of the vehicle. Not so sure though.

The late night photo might be playing a trick on true comparisent as well lol, since before i read you saying this was silver, i thought this was diamond pearl

One thing certain, is in my opinion, this looks better then the GL wheels.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to change your stock wheels? I really like the stock AMGs the car that way looks perfect!

The front left wheel has a nasty curb and crack. All 4 wheels have curb marks on them courtesy of the wife. I really don't want to change it but the cost to repair them now will cost more or less the same as buying new wheels. The idea is to keep the AMG rims for now and get it repaired one at a time when I have extra cash then store them on my attic. So then when I get the wife a new ride in a couple of years I will trash the knock-off rims (that will be murdered anyways by the wife) then get rid of my c-class and this will be my daily driver. The wife always gets the new stuff and somehow how much I hate my wife when she damage the car I still love her and want her ride to look the best as much as possible LOL! She won't settle anything less than 20" so downsizing is out of the question and I won't get the AMG repaired and let her damage it again.

How about this one? This looks more like the stock AMGs which is again a old AMG replica.

Ya im not a big fan of the AMGs... they are the best looking out of what comes with GLK, but i like some other mercedes wheels:

And recently i have seen a CLS here in calgary on these, they looked amazing:

I dislike that replica as well lol. Not a big fan of bolt looks on front lip. But i am not the one shopping for wheels Just my thoughts

Okay I decided to open my wallet just a little bit more and found TSW can accept OE mb caps so I narrowed down on very similar wheels Virage hyper Silver, Panorama in hyper silver, Sochi gunmetal.

I have those potato peeler style rims on my c-class but in machined gunmetal and it does looks nice.

Here is what the Panorama looks like on my ride (again photochop from another GLK that wears the same wheel but on a 22" configuration)

I love tsw. was running nurnburnring in gunmetal grey on my subaru... it also did shatter quite easily when i jumped curb doing 140km/h but for 250$ a piece, they were great.

I actually like these the best. The bolt-look looks substantial on an SUV.

Nice job with Photoshop to photo "shop" before the purchase BTW.

Okay almost there!!! Now should I go with a 44 or 35 offset? rim width is 8.5" only and will be using stock tire size. I do not want it to go past the fender and I am just too worried that a 35 offset would poke out. Flush is perfect but something tells me it might look goofy because the fender and tire has a big gap (comments on this one??). I have search the forum and googled for 5 hours now and I cannot find a side view of a glk with a 8.5" wide/ 35 offset (w204 forum has tons!). If anyone has a picture please share.

TSW is an amazing brand you cant go wrong with them.

Niche also has wheels that will work on the GLK as well.

Pulled the trigger today to go for the Rivage TSW wheels at 35 offset. Will have to wait for a week or two to get them. Will post pictures after the shoes are in.
