Comparing GPS Packages

While I am brand new here, my eyes are bleeding from reading....25 pages so far.

Anyway, my wife and I are looking at either a 2012 or 2013 CPO.

The 2012 has 29,000 miles and they're asking $33,991
The 2013 has 13,000 miles and they're asking $33,987

One of the big items is the nav system. The 2012 has the multimedia package and the 2013 has the Becker Map system.

The wife would like the back up camera, but would also like the lower mileage and newer year.

But now she's telling me, maybe I could live without the back up camera. (Mind you I'm married for 37 years. So it's yes dear..whatever you want).Plus we don't really care if the car has 6 speakers or 10 and no Ipod adapter or even the Keyless Go system.

She's currently driving a 2010 Acura RDX SH-AWD with the Tech Package and the nav screen is 8" with back up camera.

So taking the nav camera out of the picture and all other things the same, how does the Becker Map system compare to the Multimedia system just for Nav?

Is there anything else I should also consider?

Thanks

A gaggle of MB's
Personally - the COMAND nav is much better/more effective especially when setting or changing destinations while in motion.

Yes - it is the options (and corresponding original MSRP) that make up the "value" difference between the two GLK's you are looking at - and will make similar difference in future value.

Options like backup camera, iPhone integration - then check for Premium 1 with Power tailgate and/or appearance package w/wheels - and/or with or without running board etc - so you are clear on exactly which features which car has or doesn't have - at MSRP you are talking a $3K or more swing - and future value will be impacted by features or no features - in addition to impact from yr/miles.

You also must remember to compare MB warranty term - based on original in-service date of each vehicle - MB new car warranty is 4yr/50K miles from in-service - then when new car warranty limit is reached by time or miles (whichever 1st) the CPO warranty is for additional year and that CPO yr has no mileage cap - the CPO 1yr is 1yr.

Having Multimedia and the Nav, Sound, Connectivity, etc that comes with it I don't think I'd be happy without it. It is so comprehensive and integrated.
The 2012 is further down the depreciation scale so you lose a touch less in value compared to your purchase price but the 2013 has the updated engine and front panel.
It's an interesting push as to the better choice.
I probably would look for a 2013 with MM but failing that would fall back to the 2012 rather than do without, IMHO.

Thanks for your responses.

It actually looks like we're going to look at a 2013 tomorrow with 8000 miles and this one also has the Becker system wth Premium 01, but no moonroof.

The Mrs. woudl rather have a 2013 (even though it's more money) then the 2012 with MM since it also has 29,000 miles on her. Plus the 2013's warranty with CPO is 43 months, compared to the 2012 at 33 months.

The one feature she will miss but decided to live without is the back up camera. Me, I've never had one in my car, but really can't believe MB wouldn't have them, period, since every other car from like $20,000 up has one.

Well.. I would suggest you google and download the 2013 GLK350 brochure... please understand Premium 1 INCLUDES Pano/double sunroof.

Also - at a MB dealer ALWAYS ask to sit and review a printed Mercedes spec sheet showing option package with full breakdown of each package (detail) and original MSRP... takes a MB salesperson 20 seconds to pull it down and 20 sec to print it

It was actually the Q01package with no Pano.

Anyway when we got there, the one we were interested in was sold. (really don't think it was a scam).

We did get another one with 7800 miles and P01 package for the same price.

I'll post that info on another thread.
