How to use Bluetooth

When using bluetooth shouldn't you be able to activate the voice command by hitting the phone button on the right side of the steering wheel or green button on the dash?

I was able to pick up a call using he phone button on the steering wheel.

When I hit both of them to make a call nothing happens. The only way I was able to make a call was to use the center console button and scroll through my names.
`
Not a good first day with the 2013...

Any help would be appreciated.

From your thread on Becker, seems like you don't have the premium+multimedia package. You need that package to get voice command on the GLK.

I do have the premium 1 package as it came with Homelink, auto Rear tail gate and power moonroof.

But not the multimedia package which I was aware of.

Some cell phones aren't compatible. Check compatibility of yours. I had exactly the same problem with an old Samsung. Had to swap it for one that was compatible and now no problem. The old phone WAS functional in an E350 but not in the GLK.

I did check the Mercedes web site and theHTC one (M7) is compatible.

Therefore shouldn't I be able to hit the steering wheel button or green button on the dash and make a voice activated call?

Found a youtube video and it shows that we can't make calls voice activated without the multimedia package.

We need to use the touch pad on the dash or control knob.

Is that true? Because if it is, MB is really years behind on bluetooth technology.

Unfortunately you need the multimedia package on the GLK to get voice command, whereas some other models get it with just the premium package. I would love to be wrong, but it seems MB is nickle & diming a bit on the GLK :<

Agreed.

The Mrs. just said that if she knew there was no voice activated bluetooth, we wouldn't have bought the GLK350.

It seems that every other car no matter what the price has this feature. MB should be ashamed of themselves.

GLK 250
Just bought a 2014 GLK 250 and wasn't aware that the voice control wasn't standard. In fact the dealer was telling me how superior the MB voice control was to my BMW. I'm pretty ticked as I didn't get the multimedia/nav package and I use the voice control a ton. I wouldn't have bought the car if I knew this. This is a standard feature on a Mazda CX5 how is it not in my new Benz? Anyhow, in my BMW while connected to Bluetooth a was able to use Siri on my iphone. I don't have the GLK yet so does anyone know if I'll still be able to use Siri via the car's Bluetooth?

Siri works independently of Bluetooth so if you ask Siri to call someone in your contact list it will do it and then Bluetooth will take over unless you pick a different option on your iPhone.
