the cloth air hoses are flimsy, no question about that. While the aluminum dryer vent hoses would work I have to wonder if just maybe they made use the cloth to get more residual air to the intake because the scoops are too small and this would allow for more air flow.
have you noticed a change in fuel efficiency? less air to burn fuel?
just spit balling

Not really consumption much the same IMO BUT and power wise seems better but then again I just changed oil so I'm not sure

Here is my solution to the torn cloth hoses. I'm not sure if you all have an AutoZone parts store around where you live but I was able to pick up two boxes of SPECTRE 3" flexible air duct hoses stocked in their stores for about $20 per box. I pulled off the old paper portion off the OEM hoses, cut the new ducts to length and attached them to the original plastic fittings. They fit perfectly and look pretty much stock once you get them mounted.

Luckily they just slid right in place and were snug enough to stay without any clamps or glue at all. I suppose if they slipped you could use a little black silicone adhesive to secure them but I haven't needed to use any.

So this discussion is old but I am in the same spot with the flimsy OEM pieces now torn. The C240 hoses look to be a very nice alternative made of better materials as shown in @monarc98 post. Can anyone give any feedback on this upgrade,& possibly the p/numbers for the hoses? Any changes on the attachment points on either end? TIA!

Thank you for the replies & comments. Still interested in something better than the OEM cloth pieces. @eyeckr post from several years ago is the perhaps the best non OEM. I will do more research & see if I can find the C240 air duct part numbers.

Quick turnaround with interesting results. Found the MB p/numbers for the C204 models with the 3.2 V-6. They are 203528017 & 203528007. Here is a link to a supplier which provides a good picture. https://www.autohausaz.com/pn/2035280107 Sorely tempted to order a pair to see if they fit. Certainly should be more durable than the cloth pieces.
