Automatic Door Unlock

I know how to set the auto-lock feature. However, I can't find how to set the corresponding automatic unlock, so that all 4 doors unlock when the vehicle is put into park, or (not as nice) the drivers door opens.

???

Thanks

All of these threads - please, just RTFM. It's all in there, in it's disorganized glory.

Nothing like polite help.

I did RTFM. In fact, I RTFM 3 times - and I cannot find the information. So, since you evidently did RTFM, maybe you can tell me where ITFM it is?

I have a 2014, that said, MB do post a digital copy online, so I decided to find it for you.

http://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/DigitalA...l/2011_glk.pdf

Page 76-77.

and then if you have a "luxury multifunction steering wheel" - Page 173.

Ctrl + F and you can type in what you're looking for.

I did see that page before. In fact, it's the page I returned to 4 or 5 times hoping I was missing something (which I probably still am). But, I see nothing on how to set the automatic unlock.

The way it is, if the doors lock automatically, the only way a rear passenger can exit later is if a front passenger unlocks the door manually (or using remote). Most cars that have automatic locking also have a corresponding automatic unlock - usually when the vehicle is placed in Park. That option can be set usually in the same menu/location the Automatic Lock can.

Thank you for the digital link, though. Much easier to search.

What you're describing to me suggests that the child locks are activated on the doors. Open the doors, there is a little toggle switch on each door to enable/disable child locks.

Sadly, no I hadn't thought of that, but just checked - back doors open with the inside handle.

If it's possible, I'm sure it's a simple setting (on/off). I just can't find a reference to it.

Figured it out. Mercedes unlocks the doors when the drivers door (possibly the passenger, but I haven't tested that) opens. There is no setting. Why it's not mentioned in the manual is beyond me.

On mine, though, it doesn't seem to do it all the time. MB said I need to come in for a FLASH since I'm also still not getting open door or tailgate warnings.

Thanks for your help.

Kind of makes sense - most modern vehicles behave like this. It's a safety feature, from the standpoint that if you were to park and turn off the vehicle, it prevents a situation where some random stranger could just walk up and open your door on you.

In the last 3 or 4 car's I've had, it was an option to set it for Park or Doors. I prefer park so that the people can get out even if I haven't unbuckled and opened my door.

What got me was that mine didn't do either - park or doors, and that I couldn't find anything in the manual that stated how it should perform. I only tried it two or three times the first day, and then figured it had to be a setting.

When I tried it yesterday and the doors unlocked, testing resulted in 2 or 3 in 10 not unlocking the doors. Very odd. Hopefully the FLASH fixes it.

Thanks again
