2014 GLK 250, Tire rotation

As mentioned in the subject I own a 2014 GLK 250. I'm hitting 5000 miles, and I guess it time for a tire rotation. I did not purchase a service contract. I will be doing the oil change myself. However, I'm concerned about having the tires rotated correctly. My car has MO extended (Dunlap) GrandTouring tires. How should they be rotated, please? Criss cross or back and forth, something else? Please help me. I want to make sure my mechanic does it correctly.

Thank you for your help!

I did it myself last week traditional way - back and forth. Pretty easy with special tool/ bolt. Do not forget to ajust air pressure - 35 front, 42 back.

Had mine done with a negotiated B service last week. They criss-crossed mine which is exactly what I would have done. I always thought THAT was the traditional way!

Thank you for the info!

As far as I have understood, the type of rotation you did is for directional tires. How did you find out that these particular tires are directional (as opposed to non-directional)?

If I understand you correctly, you did your rotating as they show in "Figure D" on the following web page: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=43

Also, which tires do you have? Grandtrek Touring A/S MO Extended, Dunlop?

Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge on this topic - I appreciate it!

Interesting!

Would you be able to tell which type of criss cross you did? On the following web site you have a diagram with the different possibilities: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=43 .

Also, which tires do you have? Grandtrek Touring A/S MO Extended, Dunlop?

My tires are standard Continentals, not MO. I'm not aware of directional tires on any Benz. I did not see the actual rotation but I was told it was the standard X, which again is what I would have done had I done it myself.

Thank you for your response. I understand we don't have the same tires. However, when you mention the "standard X", do you mean rearward cross rotation, please? "totally ignorant" ;-)

Thank YOU! May I ask kindly, what do you mean by "negotiated B service", please?

B service in the almost totally inclusive 20K mile service. It includes a number "check 'this or that's'" for which they charge an arm and a leg in most cases. I eliminate those things which normally require nothing anyway and which I check myself periodically. Why pay for that? They also replace cabin filters and charge for that far beyond the cost of the filters. I just got the A service, tire rotation and I'll change the filters myself. Quite a difference in price at my dealer.

My tires are: Grandtrek Touring A/S MO Extended, Dunlop and during Service A at dealership the technician did it "D" way, back - forth. I watched all process.

What tire rotation pattern does the owners manual recommend?

Thank you for your response.

Did you see the service person disconnect/connect any sensor wires? There must be some correct?

Thank you for your comment.

My manual only says it depends on the tires you have….nothing more specific.

Yes, when I brought mine into the dealer @ 5,000 miles for the tire rotation, I didn't even think to ask. The paper work just indicates it was rotated. It appeared to be fronts to rears, rears to fronts. Ours of course is AWD, The 350 has BOTH the AWD, rear wheel drive options.

A call to the service advisor AND tech (that did it) confirmed MB oem recommendation AND what they did was: fronts to rears, rears to fronts.

(same sides, aka NO crossing) 36 F /42 R psi

Further TMI, they WOULD do outlier rotations for outlier conditions.
