US vs German Command system
I have a US spec 2013 GLK250 that was purchased in Germany. It was delivered with a German GPS with the ability to switch to the US GPS once in the US. However, I am unable to connect to the internet because the internet APP is greyed out and also, it will not connect using an IPHONE because of differences in the system that the MB uses.
Does anyone know if it is possible to change the firmware from US to German? Is the a solution to connecting an IPHONE to the command system? I did turn on personal hot spot, but that don't work.

I purchased mine in Germany, also an early 2013. It was among the first to come off the line. When it got over here after considerable use all over Europe, the US software was installed by Mercedes Benz and I have full utilization of everything. I'd guess that getting the Command software updated should take care of any problem. Have you had it in to a dealer for evaluation? That should be the first step. Next step would be to contact MB USA if a COMPETENT dealer can't correct the issue.

I am staying in Germany now and apparently there is a conflict between the partial U.S. and the German Command software. The Dealer here is also confused is has been unable to correct the internet connectivity. If I change to the U.S. in the engineering menu, It gets worse. I did contact MB about changing the firmware but they are slow to respond.
Thanks for your response

Sorry! I didn't understand you were in Germany as your profile doesn't indicate.
It's pure speculation on my part but since I was fully functional in Europe with the software originally installed in the vehicle, it just seems logical that reverting to that original software solves the problem. I was "loaned" a mobile phone by Verizon for use over there for communication back to the US on European networks, and I used it and an iPod with all functions being fully functional as they are now in the US.
The problem is that usually technicians are good mechanics but are sometimes overwhelmed with the computerization and its software in modern cars. They aren't so good at that.

I had full function of the Navi system all over Europe, including Italy, France and Spain, and of course Germany. Those were eliminated when it was shipped over, I think. There was a delay because of some software problem and having to await a CD rather than an electronic transfer, but all worked smoothly before the changeover in Europe, and after delivery of the car to me here. I don't believe I have a facility for accessing German maps now, but I have no reason to try. I get the impression that was eliminated and all I have is North America and excluding Mexico. But again, I've not checked either Canada or Mexico.

The "Internet Connection" thing is more designed for older phones with network over bluetooth.
Here is a thread that explains how to do it on an Android phone.

This does not fully address the concerns of the O.P. but I was told by M-B in Germany that you cannot have the U.S. and European maps installed at the same time as there is not enough room on the hard drive. It's one or the other.
