If possible try to have a dent less repair. That way there is no repainting and it will look brand new. I had it done to my dinged GLK and it looks great.

If there was paint gouge, the other must have either intentionally open it real hard or they drive a prehistoric metal clunker.

2 thoughts. One. It's a car dude. Nothing to lose sleep over. Two. $190 is way, way too much. My local guy does this for $50. The dealer, $90.

Yah, well one - its not the dent that bothered me - but what caused it "dude" and i'm sure most people understand that ignorance like this gets to you now and then and a little venting is good for the soul..

two If your dealer can spend 4 hours (yes 4) getting a dent like this out for $90 bucks or your local guy for $50 more power to you.. It wasn't a quick fix.

Carry On.....

He clearly cautioned in the title and you come on here and tell to chill because it's a car. He's venting let him vent.

I hate door dings and the psyche behind them. I take a lot of patience opening MY door to make sure I don't ruin someone's ride

Sorry OP... Just found a ding in my ride and it is a sucky feeling

Unfortunately, there is no shortage of inconsiderate imbeciles in the world.

As often as possible, I will go out of my way to park my car where it is less likely to get dinged. But get this. I park way out in the lot somewhere with dozens of empty spaces around my car and sure enough, some a-hole will park right next to my car. Frig, I don't get it. Are these idiots lonely, or what?

Another thing I try to do is park facing into the wind (when winds are strong). My theory is that if someone parks next to my car, the wind can't whip their door open.

But in the end, you just can't fix stupid, inconsiderate, IDGAD people.

In my younger days, I let the air out of all 4 of their tires. At least I felt a little better.

Seriously! It is just so strange that why do people like to park right next to your/my car when there are tons of other empty spaces and far away from any store doors... and I cannot explain such phenomenon.

I find little kids that just don't pay attention or know better are the worst.
I blame it on all the tiny "compact" parking spaces that are really too small for most cars - even compact ones. I picked up a dent right on the edge of the wheel well crease in the back and the PDR folks aren't sure they can take it out because it's on a crease.
I feel your pain.
I picked up some magnetic door signs without anything silkscreened on them so I could slap them on the doors when I park in a dubious place. It still wouldn't have protected the wheel wells though.

Mine was in the door crease and came out perfectly, check another PDR they should be able to get it out but it takes alot of skill..

I usually try and park in the back 40 to keep the dings down, but occasionally I have to park with the rest of the population. It's the rear doors that take the beating and what generally comes out of the back are kids. Or the parents taking the kids out of the back and letting the door fly as they have themselves, bags and kids they are wrestling with. The last thing they are worried about is where the door is.

If I park next to someone with a car seat in the back I will move the car. As I know what's going to happen.

People don't have respect for other peoples property anymore. Not that they ever did in the first place. People also think because you drive a Benz you have money and can afford to pop those out.

I bought a ding policy through my wife's employer for 10 bucks a month they will pop them out. 360 Auto. Also covers glass and upholstery.

I call get a claim number and off I go. I've had all my vehicles dedinged. Never had a problem. It covers all the cars registered to the address on file or leased (wife's fleet car).

The policy was purchased through my wife's employee benefits provider. I'm not sure of the name of the provider, but it's open to all employees of the company as a benefit. They have many deals and specials that pop up from time to time. Within the provider is the company called 360 Auto. This is the administrator and where and who I call. The monthly premium is 9.99 a month and deducted directly from my credit card. It's a month to month obligation. I can cancel anytime.

I call, they ask me the year, make and model of the vehicle and location of the ding. They provide me a claim number and a ding specialist name and #. It's been the same place now for a few years. The guy has a corner office at the local Honda Dealership. I have to go to him. I'm ok with that. I schedule the process for a Saturday morning and off I go. I arrive and they have all the claim papers ready. When the work is done I sign off and away I go. No money is traded. Except the 9.99 a month.

He's pulled the dings out of my Benz, Lexus and Honda. All of them. Some I gang up. He has them all plotted out on the diagrams that have been sent to him from the 360 Auto folks. I've not used the glass or the upholstery portion so I can't commit on that.

Before this came along I was using a Ding Shop and got the kid to do the work on the side for cash. I would send out a company wide email with those that needed the dings removed and he made a day of it in the parking lot. The kid fell off planet earth and this popped up and it's been working ever since.

I've seen some ding policies sold at dealerships for over a grand. I've been very please with the work this guy does. So I'll continue to use the service until it stops.
