New GLK350 owner after a horrific experience with GLA

Hello to all--

Picked up a new GLK350 4Matic this weekend after a very bad experience with a GLA250...needless to say this truck is WORLDS better than the GLA and I am hopeful for a long and painless ride.

Anyhow, looking forward to interacting with you all and saving my opinion of MB with this truck!

Good to see you here VentoGT. I was deciding between GLA and GLK but after reading your horrible story over there, I ordered GLK without hesitation. So I should say thank you.
Enjoy your new GLK!

The GLA has been written up as a Mercedes for those that need an entry level car and don't know what a Mercedes is supposed to drive like. If you know the Mercedes experience you are unlikely to be satisfied by a GLA or it's variants. The GLK is an excellent choice that you will be tired of before it's ever done.

Congrats on the new car. I just bought my second GLK. Never thought I'd buy the same car twice but I think it's a great value. Enjoy!

Thanks all--and this ^ is spot on. The dealer told me that they have people coming in from Honda and Toyota that can "finally afford a Mercedes". It's not a horrible car but compared to what a German car should drive/feel/handle like, it's not even close. I've never owned a Mercedes until now but have had BMWs, Porsches, VWs, and drive an Audi now and have had many friends and relatives with E class cars and S class cars over the years. GLK feels, handles and sounds like a proper Merc where the GLA never did.

Me and my wife own a c240 for 6 years... yesterday we booked a test drive with GLA and GLK..had excat same thought... the GLA drives and feels much inferior to our 2002 c240...
the GLK250 was night and day difference... we are thinking about getting one too..
good choice and congrats

2015 GLK 250 BlueTEC
Glad to see I'm not the only one doing this. At the end of my lease on a '11 C250 4Matic in April, I got a GLA 45 AMG and it's been nothing but headaches. It looks nice, but it's nowhere near the same level of luxury as my C-class was.

My 2015 GLK 250 Bluetec 4Matic is supposed to come in tomorrow, and then they need a few more days to prep it for delivery. I can't wait.

GLK

Picked up my 15 GLK 3 days ago. Has 7k Km's on it after being MB Exec driven for 2 months or so. It is a fantastic SUV & look forward to running around in it.

Wow that's really weird. The situation with my GLK is the exact same as yours. It was being driven by some MB Exec, in-service date is June 2015. I should be getting it with 5-6k KM's on it.

They're giving me an insane discount on it to offset the loss I'm taking on the trade-in for my GLA 45.

What's the load out on your GLK?

Test drove a brand new GLA. I was not satisfy. Test drove a CPO 13' GLK and took it home. World difference for sure!

Getting even more weird. My Obsidian Black over Black went into service in June also. I got it on 8/16 with 7210 Km's. They had it for an extra week while they changed out 2 rims that they had to get from MB Canada....Hmmmm.
I got to drive a fairly 'loaded' C400 for that week. Nice car but I personally prefer the 250....More practical. Came with a full tank & I put my 2nd tank of Diesel in today after 2200+ Km's. The mileage is truly unbelievable.

That's funny. I got our 2013 GLK under similar circumstances. Was driven by some Mercedes Executive for 6 months in 2013 (11k miles) and sold to a lady that drove it for 3 months (+3k miles) and decided she didn't like the GLK and wanted a C class instead. I bought it for a little over $35k+tax but the original list on the vehicle was $57k.

I called the dealership around the same time and the car was just bought back from the lady but not released into the preowned inventory yet. When I went to look at the car, it was still dirty and I found her thong (underwear) in the passenger side back seat magazine pocket... I should have kept it as a souvenir. LOL

GLA is way too small!! Same with the CLA, I dont really consider them to be "real" Mercedes. Some might argue the same about the GLK, but really, the GLK is so much more different!
