2014 GLK 350 Happy Owner, some notes...

Hello,
Proud owner of a beautiful Pebble Grey 2014 GLK 350, Sahara Beige interior and premium package! Pre-owned with less than 18,000 mils.
Love the car and the handling! Impeccable and luxurious cabin!
I had the car delivered, after a few days I realized that the Tire Inflating Compressor is not there nor is the First Aid Kit!
I called the dealer and he said he would be happy to send a first Aid Kit, but that the Compressor does not come with the car! Although there's an empty place where it is suppose to be and the manual shows that it's there.
He said he just looked at a new GLK and that too did not have it!
The explanation is that now Mercedes includes the Emergency Road side service and that they would take care of inflating the spare tire and I wouldn't need this. but what if I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere with no reception and can't reach anyone, How do I inflate the tire then?
Had anyone experienced this issue?

My 2014 250 did not come with the compressor and I don't think any US 250 got it. They give you run flats on the 250 instead.

My 350 has an inflatable spare and the compressor.

Dealer sales people are not always the best source. The 350 should have a compressor if it has the space saver inflatible spare. Press them to give you a compressor.

Thanks to both replies! May I ask what's a "run flat" ?
Also, my spare feels "deflated when I touch it, So I would need to inflate after installing (enter compressor) correct?

Thanks

Really? What's a run flat? Go buy the compressor if you are so worried
If they have to ask....

^WOW! That wasn't a helpful response at all.

I have a 2015 350 and it has the compressor so I think the dealer is incorrect in this situation. I am planning my first road trip in the GLK and checked my spare, thought the same thing, that it is not inflated so I planned to take it somewhere to have it inflated. I'd be interested to know if that is actually how it is supposed to be, but I doubt it.

Run Flats are tires that can go a certain distance and speed even when they are flat. I believe the vehicles that don't come with a spare came with run flat tires instead.

Yes, that is how the tire is "supposed" to be - for better or for worse. It takes up less space that way.

You should probably have a look here at page 362 and 363: https://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/Digital...l/2014_GLK.pdf

Awesome! Thank you. I doubt the dealer could argue that the compressor comes with the car with the manual as a reference.

Yes, thanks. I guess I got heckled for not knowing what a Run flat is! I had never heard that term before but I guess that's my fault. I also was bad for asking if the compressor came with the car! Oh well.
In any case, the inflated tire turns out that that's how it comes, and after installing it, you connect the compressor and inflate it before you lower the car. There's a video on Youtube.
However, you can only go about 50 miles and stay within a certain speed. Also, you can't run the compressor more than 8 minutes at a time.

I guess in addition to offering helpful advise, this forum can also be used to reprimand people for not knowing things!

Don't take it too personally, everyone thinks that since they know everything everyone should also and instead of being helpful to share their wealth of knowledge they feel it's better to belittle people. There are some helpful people out there.

Welcome to the internet. That sort of thing is rather common here. Ignore it and carry on.

Just checked the trunk. It has a flat air compressor stored in the left compartment.

My Dealer insists that the compressor on my (U.S.) 2014 GLK is an "accessory" and is not included with the car, he said new cars are not equipped with them because you don't need to inflate the tire yourself, but you can call MB roadside assistance and they will come change the flat for you!

What you need to do is call MB USA and ask them. If they say yes, It's standard issue. Then have them notify your dealer.

Happy ending!
My dealer finally agreed that I was correct and he is sending the compressor! there were actually 3 things missing from the tool box, compressor, a folding wheel choke and a valve extractor. He's sending all three. Commended me for being diligent :-)

You could be stranded for hours waiting for service, especially if it is late at night and you are in a place far distant from a dealer. Who is your dealer kidding? My wife waited for more than an hour for MB service to change a flat. Then called me. It was a half hour trip and another 15 minutes to get her going again and still MB didn't show and never apologized. Get the pump!. I counted 7 flats between Bridgeport CT and Clinton NJ on Sunday.
