2015 GLK 250 check engine light on again

The first time CEL on is around 500 miles, 2 weeks after the purchase of the car.The NOX sensor was replaced. The check engine light is on again today, 2000 miles and 2 months.

What is the problem of this car? and it also comes with the ESP light on.....

And it has a burning smell one time without any lights on. The smell doesn't happen again.

Any suggestion?

The burning smell is likely just a regeneration cycle that converts soot to ash and is completely normal.

The emission systems on modern diesel engines is complex with many components that can fail. When it all works it is wonderful, but when it goes wrong it can be difficult to troubleshoot and costly to repair. At 2000 miles you are well within warranty and you should take advantage of it. If your car won't start then call Mercedes roadside assistance and have them take it to the dealer. This in not likely to be something that you can or should try to fix for yourself.

update:

The check engine light is still on this morning when I drove to the office, but it turned off when I drove to the dealer near my office later. Dealer told me that they can not do anything if the light is off. I show him the pic, not working. So disappointed.

Dealer is not tell whole truth. When the light turns on, it should set a code that can be read by the dealer even though the light went out. Sometimes a code is not set, such as when the gas cap is not turned down tight,so he did not tell the whole truth. If a code is not set, then the problem is probably not serious and he cannot tell what the problem is. But just because the light went out does not mean that in many cases he can not read the error code. He should at least try.

I had the same problem with the CEL and my dealer read it no questions asked. Each time they found the issue, either a bad NOx sensor, the software issue with the fuel system or an injector not at full pressure.

Angry 2013 GLK250 check engine light on again

I purchased a brand new 2013 GLK250. In 2 1/2 years the check engine has come on 3 times. Each time they replaced the soot sensor, so that's 3 times - the car has only 16,000 km. I will be speaking to Mercedes dealership management.

dadjulie, do you make a lot of very short 10 miles or less trips with this vehicle?

Yes I suppose, but I also drive on the highway every few weeks. I also use ULS diesel recommended by the service department.

GLK250 WOES

We bought our GLK250 new in 2013. At 600 miles the throttle actuator went out. Had to get one off the assembly line in Germany. Then the add blue deff light comes on and I have x number of restarts. Turned out that the blue def injector and tube had gone bad and coated the bottom of the car with blue def fluid. Then the check engine light comes on , this time the nox sensor was bad. Check engine light comes on again, nox sensor over operating range, reset and install software update. I had a 99 E320 for 15 years and no problems . Am thinking its time to move on and get a ? Not trusting this ride any longer.

Too bad, but understandable. In my case my 2013 hasn't had a single problem! Not one!

It could be you've solved all the issues and the next owner will reap the benefit of your repairs and dissatisfaction. I'm next to buying mine at lease end 2 months from now and giving up plans for a new GLC. Good luck!

I bought a odbc ll reader, got it from Amazon for $15...connects with my phone to read the code. Then I search online to see what it means. I had check engine light after check engine light. Every single time is was some random sensor that had gone bad (accept one was small crack in the turbo intake piping). Each time I was able to read the code and every time I took it to the dealer to check it out, they fixed exactly what the reader said.

It doesn't matter what kind of car or dealer/mechanic you are working with, knowing what is wrong before you take it in helps you big time!

2015 GLK 250 CEL

I purchased my car new from the dealership August 2015. March 2016 CEL went on took to dealer they advised DPF replacement needed. $4000 but under warranty so ok. August 2016 took vehicle in for service- no issues reported. September 26 2016 CEL on again. Took to dealership. After one week of tests, was advised sensors needed to be replaced/upgraded. October 2016 CEL back on! Took to dealership advised same issue as prior times and will be contacting me when completed. This was 3 days after my car was returned after it was "fixed." I am at a loss of what to do. My dad has the same car- absolutely no issues. I love my car but I cannot have it in the shop for weeks at a time. How can the same issue repeat itself this many times and still be recurring?? Vehicle has 24k miles on it. Still under warranty but I don't want a car with all these issues. Please help!
